I guess its way past time for me to update my spark page.

I live in Africa with my four children, on a little farm way out in a remote village.

I had initially lost 125lbs when I moved to Africa, gradually, over two years, without doing anything in particular. No diet. No special exercise (but a very active lifestyle.) For a couple years, I felt great. I had two babies in that time - yes, my miracle babies, because I was told I would never be able to conceive naturally. But after the birth of my last daughter, things kind of took a down-hill turn. I started to feel not-so-good. A lot of my "old" problems, from 300+ lbs started to plague me. Migraines, muscle and joint pain, chronic fatigue, digestive problems, really low immunity... and the weight started to creep back up. I haven't been able to test myself, but I also suspect that my diabetes is "back" (after no symptoms and no high glucose readings for 4+ years). Of course I am terrified that I am going to end up right back where I started from, morbidly obese, and a ticking time-bomb with a long list of co-morbidities... and here I am in Africa with no medical support. So I came back to the place it all started for me... logged back into Spark on New Years 2017. Here we go again!

My Goals:
My real goal is to get back to that place where I FEEL GOOD in my body, where I have only one chin, and I wake up in the morning feeling human. But if you want to talk NUMBERS... I am still striving for 60kgs (132lbs)

My Program:
My plan is to eat whole, unprocessed foods, eliminate sugar (especially in my beverages), eliminate wheat, and reduce other carbs over all. Eat more fruits and vegetables, drink more water. Get deliberate exercise (aside from the "functional fitness" I get working on the farm) in the form of walking and stretching to start. Eventually I think I'd like to try jogging... but I'm not there yet.

    I'm back on SP and was thinking of you. Not sure how often you are able to check in, I know how spotty reception can be in Africa and I know how busy you are besides, but know that I am sending you good thoughts and hope all is well in your corner of the world!

    Hello there Hope. I came across your Spark Page and went through it. I live on the other end of Africa in Dakar, Senegal. My husband and I have been living here since 1982 with a few absences in between. We have two adult daughters who live in Canada and have four grand-children (two girls and two boys). What a joy they are!

    We are hoping to sell our home in Dakar in order that we may move back to Canada and be closer to the family (my siblings, daughters and grands). We actually left Canada in 1975 to go and live in Sierra Leone where my husband is from. It has been a while... I do enjoy the cold weather and really look forward to touching my homeland again.
