SPEEDYDOG
Thanks you for your comment on my "BMI is Stupid" blog. For sedentary people, BMI is somewhat accurate. Most height/weight charts that are based on BMI.
Last summer, I set a personal record. I rode my bike for 120 miles at an average speed of over 20 mph. This was over hilly terrain that included a total climb of 4,000 feet. I live at 7,000 feet above sea level, which makes breathing a bit difficult.
Yet I am still considered overweight and borderline obese. Muscle has less mass than fat.
A person can lose inches and gain weight!
The other extreme is "skinny and fat" A skinny-fat person has a normal BMI but a high percentage of body fat.
I am just not a fan of BMI as an indicator of health.
