February 2018
Five years post stopping HRT, my body is out of control - rolls of fat around my middle. Due to regular exercise, I'm still comfortable in my body, but not in my clothes. I've been eating according to Whole30 for a couple of years, but items have crept in that are doing me no good. Time for a reset!

July 2013
I finally acknowledged that the healthy diet I was eating didn't agree with me. I'm now using The Plan to ferret out those foods that aren't friendly. After 4 weeks, I'm down 6 lbs and my joints no longer ache. The research continues....

May 2013
I still haven't figured out what my body is doing, but I'm feeling better. Losing weight may or may not happen, but I'll keep running.

January 2013
Off HRT, and with a significant weight gain. Time to get serious and figure out how to handle the new me.

November 2012
My energy is back, and so is the excess weight. But this is a quest for health, so I'm not going to panic over a few pounds. There is no doubt that I'm in better shape and healthier than I was when I started running almost three years ago.

January 2012
I haven't been my energetic self since the St. Louis marathon last October. My mojo is AWOL, but I'm not giving up, so here I am. Not the update I wanted, but it's real and so am I.

November 2010
We limit ourselves by defining ourselves. That's what I discovered while training for a marathon. I'm in a place I never thought I would be, I'm an athlete, I'm a runner. Who else might I become?

March 2010
I'm on a fitness and health quest now, having achieved a weight range at which I feel comfortable. Yes, range: weight isn't static, and it's going to fluctuate by a few pounds. I'm good with that.
My journey on SP has brought me to an interesting point: it's not about my weight, it's about discovering who I am in so many different arenas.

2010 goals:
Maintain my weight range
Become a runner

July 2009
I had lost weight before, but couldn't even seem to get started this time. Somehow I stumbled onto Sparkpeople, I don't even remember how!

I was going through some very stressful times, with no energy, and no focus, so it was a matter of putting one foot in front of the other without feeling particularly motivated.

It took seven weeks to see any results, and by then I'd developed a habit, motivated or not.

By nine weeks, I realized I needed to get serious about exercise. This piece still eludes me on a consistent basis, particularly strength training.

After three months, I'm feeling so much better. It's hard to believe what difference five or six pounds can make on a 5'1" frame. And my quest is now for fitness, not for a magic number on the scale. So it's going to be a long journey, one I'm on for the rest of my life.

Track what I eat
Eat a balanced diet, making sure I get enough protein
Balance - no deprivation
Exercise regularly
Get enough sleep
Use the SP resources to stay motivated
