Hi - I'm 21 years old, and I'm in my last year of an undergraduate degree at a Canadian university. I've ALWAYS been a bit overweight - ie. never happy in a bathing suit, always sucking it in, worrying, not feeling good enough etc. I've also never been fit or active - gym class was, from day one, a place of horror where I got teased and felt left out, so instead of learning to enjoy exercise I learned to hate it, and avoid it like the plague!

However, I now want all that to change... in September of last year the guy I thought was the ONE suddenly left me (we were living together, informally engaged, etc.) and replaced me within a week. Since then I've only ever seen him from a distance. Although heartbroken and angry, I managed to turn my anger into something positive - whenever I wanted something to eat (emotional eater), I'd instead go on the treadmill for the duration of a Prison Break episode! I started in September 2007 at 156 lbs - I am currently 134.5 lbs, and have done it mainly though calorie counting.

My goals:
to reach goal weight and be slim and confident
to be able to run for an hour without stopping
to be able to do a back hand spring! (not sure why, but I've always wanted to)

Fitness Minutes: 40

My Goals:
I want to get down to somewhere between 115 and 120 pounds. I've never been this thin in my life, so I really don't know what I will look like! I'm about 5'5".

I also really want to get fit - I want to have muscle definiton, and I want to be able to run for an hour without stopping.

I want to get involved in something active, like a sport, or swimming, or rowing... something! Although right now all I do is Spinning classes (and previously the treadmill), in the future I would rather get my cardio from things that I enjoy doing, that aren't gym bound. Maybe even gymnastics, and finally learn to do a back hand spring!

Oh, and lots of pushups... right now I can't even do one :(


My Program:
All I do is calorie count - I really hate vegetables and salads and things. I try and eat them, but frequently fail. Basically, I eat broccoli! Other than that, I eat whatever I want, as long as I don't go over whatever I've decided will be my max cals for the day. Of course, "whatever I want" doesn't mean pure trans and sat fats, lol! I eat whole grains, high fiber cereals, fruit, and a ridiculous amount of chicken and cheese. It's just that I don't specifically cut out anything either. I keep track on fitday.com, but I like the social support here.

    Hey! I just wanted to say that it is awesome to see how much weight you have lost. It is really inspiring too esp because you are a college student. You give me motivation to lose weight despite how busy I get with school, work, and my internship. Great job!

    as far as my calories, when i was losing weight, i didn't go below 1250 at the lowest..usually my cals were between 1250-1350 i'd say. its true that i have not increased my calories a great deal yet, but they say you should do it slowely. so i've increased about 300 calories daily so far, but oftentimes more & i'm still working my way up. i think i should be able to comfortably eat 1800+ and still maintain.

    i hope that helps! just try to be patient & trust the ranges SP has set for you. it will pay off emoticon keep in touch.

    Well.. Due to one of my dogs getting into poo outside.. my evening has been spent giving her a much needed haircut and bathing her. Now I have to get my cardio in... So, I'm thinking I won't get the pancakes made for a couple of days. I'm a little bummed, but at least I have the stuff now and can do it whenever! :)

    First of all, congrats on your weight loss so far! You are looking absolutely fab!! Second of all, thank you for sharing your pancake recipe!! I am going to try a batch sometime this week. Maybe even make it tonight! :) (If that's the case, I'll have to try one as an evening snack and at approx 75 cals per cake, that's not bad!)

    I've been wanting pancakes lately, but just haven't brought myself to take the plunge and eat a regular one. :)
