Hello from central Florida !

I am an un-healthy, un-fit grandmother of seven who wants to be around to see them grow up. It's as simple as that. I'm in my second marriage to a man who has to work to hold on to every pound, while I can gain weight by simply looking at a picture of food in a magazine. Oh, well, such is life.

Jay's journey is a long one, but not one that is unique. Yo-yo dieting has taken it's toll. Those ups and downs over the years have turned into mostly ups, with the downs infrequent and very far between.

My laundry list of health problems and complaints will not be included here, because I feel they come under the heading of "so what?". We all have them and must learn to deal with them. However, there is not one item on that list that can't be improved by eating right, moving my *ahem* self, and developing an over-all better lifestyle. No whining, complaining, or empty excuse- making allowed.

So here we go ! Gonna do it this time THE RIGHT WAY!!!

My Goals:
Like everyone here, I want to feel healthier, look healthier, BE healthier.

My Program:
The food issue is under control for now, ( and I sincerely hope forever) but the fitness issue is a trial. One day at a time of baby-steps. Thank you, SP for the nutrition tracker. Gotta dust off that fitness tracker and put it to work !

Personal Information:
My name is Dyanne. I grew up in Mississippi, moved to Texas where I raised my family. I've been in Florida since 1999. Retired now, I was a nurse in my "other" life.

Other Information:
An avid reader, I read two or three books most weeks. Music is a joy to me, almost any kind of music. I love watching the wildlife outside my door.

congratulations on you and your hubby squashing the smokes.
You will do just fine, and yep... your house is probably filled with attitude.
Deep breathing really helps. If you haven't tried it. check it out. Whenever you get that little twinge of attitude, just step back and take a few deep breaths and know that it will pass.

You are so right about the amount of work involved in gardening but we are still young enough to enjoy it and it's good for us physically. And the way we do it isn't too bad. We have the garden fenced in. We raise out own transplants and then plant them and mulch as soon as possible so we have very little weeding to do. Makes it a lot easier to just keep the pests out, fertilize, water, and harvest.

Congratulations on your weight loss journey! I have also been blessed with six grandchildren, two sets of twins! I am a retired nurse, and I do miss nursing. I have been thinking about going on South Beach. I am also a yo-yo, up and down kind of lady. I struggle to get motivated to eat healthy and try to do some gentle exercise. Thanks for giving me some hope.
Keep up the good work! Nancy in Central Virginia
