I've been Sparking for over 4 years. I lost 26 pounds, learned that I can maintain that loss, but also learned that I can gain back if I quit paying attention.
I maintained for 6 months without tracking (although I did use the tracker now & then to check calorie and nutritional content of various foods), but started logging again to break out of my plateau. That worked well and I started to lose again.

I retired from my job 3 years ago. Things were going well, being active, traveling a lot but not gaining too much, and volunteering at our local food bank. I got to within 5 pounds of my final goal.
Then disaster struck: my husband had a serious medical problem and spent months in the hospital and in rehab centers. I sat around hospitals in a stunned state, my friends took me out to eat, I ate too many off the goodies people brought my husband, and I washed it all down with comfort food and milk shakes. Back came 15 pounds....
I credit SparkPeople with that number not being higher. Many times, instead of eating I went to my computer to hang out in SparkVille.
I'm working on losing those pounds again but it's going to be hard without my exercise buddy. He walks really slowly now, no more power walks for us. I have to find motivation to work out without him, which ain't happening.

My Goals:
Lose 20 pounds, so that I'm at what my Dr thinks is an ideal weight for a woman my age.
I only need to lose another 15 pounds to be her "acceptable" weight for my age. However, now that I see what I can accomplish with the help of SP, I'm going to aim for the ideal weight.
Another goal is to be more active. I need to have energy.
My Program:
What program? The ability to schedule more than a day in advance went out the window with DH's medical problems. Maybe admitting that on my SparkPage will shame me into getting back on track.
Personal Information:
We have 3 cats. They do dog tricks: roll over, shake hands, jump through hoops, "high five", that sort of thing. The 2 "fat cats" recently lost their excess weight and are now slim and trim. I think exercise has a lot to do with it: the new one makes them play more.
Other Information:
When other people said they had more energy after losing weight and eating better, I thought, "Yea, right." But it's true--my volleyball game has improved and people comment on the improved speed and power of my hits. I like having proof that it's not all in my head.
