The paragraph below sounds so like me--it is not at all current, though, so am leaving it there as a reminder of where I once was.

I have learned a lot about myself since joining SparkPeople and am so glad I selected this site for help. The most helpful has been the food tracker and I use it to the hilt--always entering everything. On some days I check the figures before supper and alter my supper plan to make up for errors or miscalculations during the day.

The next paragraph, written much longer ago than the one about nutrition tracking, is still true, so I will leave it.

The most frustrating is that some days I am not able to do hardly anything other than rest and other times I can do anything, but have to be careful not to overdue or I'm back off my feet again. The auto-immune conditions and the medicines I take for them have led to some unhealthy habits and excess weight, but I think this program will help me deal better with all that.

Actually, the program helps only if I work with it and use it to grow. Even at my worst times, I follow and reply to posts of my favorite team and keep in touch with people that I care about and with whom I share a supportive environment . At my best times, I do tracking of nutrition, fitness, and other goals, which I change to keep current as my interests, focus, and goals change.

My Goals:
My current goal is to become more healthy through making better food selections, getting more sleep, becoming more physically fit, and putting more priority into accomplishing my own needs and goals. These sound general, but I manage specific goals, which keep changing over time, through the tracking system.

Personal Information:
My name is Julie. I am 78 years old and live in a house with Sue (age 91), who has been my partner for 45 years. A few years ago Sue's daughter Georgia (age 70) moved in with us. We live in SW Florida in a fixer-upper house located on a large lot where I have started several gardens.


Other Information:
My hobbies include gardening, reading, music, TV, jigsaw puzzles, and trying out new recipes. Since the three of us each prefer different types of foods, planning and cooking meals that suit everyone and yet aren't too complicated is like solving a puzzle. I am active in my church, attending services on Sundays, a cards and lunch event on Wednesdays, and various committee meetings.
