Hello everyone! My name is Laura. When I joined SP, my goal was to get to 130 by the time my son graduated from high school in May of 2011. I'm proud to say that I accomplished that goal! Maintenance was another story! I eventually gained back every pound that I lost!

I realize now, that my initial goal of 130, although attainable, was just to hard to maintain. Now, I'm being realistic. A goal of 150 is now what I plan to reach and MAINTAIN for life.

Summer 5% Challenge Goals:
1. Exercise Daily - at least 30 minutes
2. Track Nutrition Daily
3. Support and Lead Team

My Goals:
My ultimate goal was to be at 130 by May 19, 2011, the day my son graduated from high school. WooHoo achieved! My goal now is to weigh 150 and maintain that for life. I also continue to want to be a positive role model for my 9 yo daughter.


My Program:
I use several programs in my health journey. I began with Spark People. I use it daily for emotional support and exercise tracking. I also wear a Fitbit tracker, which helps to calculate my daily total calorie expenditure. I'm currently under the care of a bariatric dr that is providing guidance in my food choices.



Personal Information:
I live in a very rural area of Northeast Arkansas. I'm happily married with 2 children, ages 21 and 9. And yes, it was planned that way! I'm currently a stay-at-home mom. My husband farms, so I help with farm tasks as needed. I'm also the proud owner of 4 cats!


Other Information:
I enjoy cooking. My favorite exercise is walking on the treadmill.
