02/21/21: Hi, I am Janette. I will turn 61 years old the middle of this April. I live in Escondido, CA.

I started My Fitness Pal 05/12/2013, and Spark People the next day, at 170 pounds. I joined several other weight loss and exercise sites and groups since then. I got down to 140 pounds soon after joining the sites while I was training to run my first and only 5 K in Sept of 2013. Something that I would have never thought of ever trying before I started this journey. Since I am asthmatic and have never been really athletic because of it, and other health issues. I had old and new health issues bothering me before and after that race. So I stopped all high impact exercise sometime after that race at the guidance of my doctors. As I was having too much health problems from my Scoliosis that was getting worse with the running and Zumba. And issues with my liver, kidneys and spleen too.

On April 1, 2014 I started the Dash Diet at 144.8 pounds. My weight bounced back up as soon as I went on that diet, and I had started adding more dairy, fruits, grains and such back into my diet like my doctors wanted me to do. So I started playing with it and was doing better. But then I had health problem after health problem, and started to put weight back on. And with going back to work in 2016, I was having a hard time with it too. So I have been working more on just maintaining, and not so much concentrating on losing. I have maintained around 160 since going back to work in 2016.

My Goals:
To feel better health wise.

To look healthier again.

To get back into some of my favorite clothes.


My Program:
In May 2013, I started to count calories for the first time in my life. Started exercising daily and trying to eat more whole food and less processed foods. In April of 2014 I started the DASH Diet per my doctors. March 20th of 2018, I had to go on a low oxalate diet to avoid kidney stones. I have been to PT several times over the years for my Scoliosis. So I do yoga like PT exercises each day for it.

I am from San Diego, Ca. But I am now living in Escondido, Ca.


Other Information:
I like walking, and I walk to a lot of my errands instead of driving. I like walking around our downtown area of Escondido or my neighborhood.

So find a little time each day that you can set apart to cultivate some flowers in the garden of your heart. And then, throughout the busy days your happy heart will sing.
