I've been struggling with my weight for most of my life. I am lucky enough to have really good genes so I have never been majorly overweight, but in my family I'm the biggest which isn't the easiest situation.
My mother has been on a diet even since I can remember and was big into her high impact aerobics when she was younger and has passed on her vast knowledge, so I know now to look after my knees (no high impact anything) and whats good to eat, not that its always the choice I make.

This year I started a new job and that's a great time to kick aside all the bad habits. I started walking to work everyday. At the time my car was in the shop getting repaired, now I couldn't imagine not walking, its one of the best times of my day.
I also started pole dancing with a friend, and it is the highlight of my week. Its challenging and difficult and sore sometimes, but the ladies have become another family and every new move gives you such a feeling of accomplishment.

So all of this happened in January, and to tell the truth I wasn't seeing any significant changes in my body. I knew I was stronger, and I kind of slimmed out a tiny bit, but I wasn't paying any attention to what I was eating. So now that spring is in the air in sunny South Africa I have started addressing this issue of putting any old thing in to my mouth. I am eating whole grains and salads and making other small changes to my diet as I go. What fun this journey is becoming!
