A Lifelong Journey
I am 37, single mother of two boys teenage boys. I've stuggled with weight since grade school so I never really knew how my body could feel without the extra pounds. I have memories of my mother signing me up to Jenny Craig and that is when my closet eating began. I know she meant well, but she didn't struggle with weight issues so I never felt that she understood what I was going through. The truth is that at that age I didn't understand it either. I truly couldn't pinpoint what got me on track. I finally understood my dads words telling me that a happy life is a balanced life. I joined Weight Watchers after trying to lose weight on my own using a low carb diet which was not the balance I needed. I started at 227 and my goal is to be at 155. It's been a long, slow moving bumpy ride no doubt, but all the struggles will be the reminder that I am stronger than I ever thought I could be and this will not allow me to fail. It's amazing what you can accomplish when you've had enough.
**It is now mid June and I am still making very slow progress. Never the less the scale is moving in the right direction. Today I weighed in at 174. I hit a slump in April due to thyroid surgery. Since then I've been having trouble getting back into my workout routine. Finally I am feeling like myself again and starting to add more activity.
***Today I am only ten pounds away from my original goal. I have hit many bumps in the road and nearly gave up due to personal problems. During this time all I wanted to do is turn to food. I stopped working out because I felt that what happened to me had something to do with focusing too much on myself. I felt selfish and my solution was to give up and go back to the wife who focused more on her partners needs. After much reflection and therapy I found that working on myself is a need that I have to meet and if I don't I will never make myself or others around me happy. So my final desicion is to continue my journey to self renewal.
