Updated 24May09 I am a successful product of a Body-for-Life challenge in 2001, going from 200 lbs at age 28 to 170 lbs just before turning 29. In 2003 I received my Aerobics and Fitness Association (AFAA) Personal Trainer Certification and have maintained it since, taking on friends as clients. Now, in 2009, approaching age 37, I'm taking a little more detailed approach using the tools available here on SparkPeople. In the initial time on Spark, I've taken off ~7 lbs and 2% body fat. Then another 13 lbs lost since. I'm very excited about the momentum, and I want to help and inspire others.

After some time off to deal with a sprained left toe, I'm looking forward to implementing a Turbulence Training workout to get back into the swing of things, and getting my conditioning back in gear for running.

"Sport, properly directed, develops character, makes a man courageous, a generous loser, and a gracious victor; it refines the senses, gives intellectual penetration, and steels the will to endurance. It is not merely a physical development then. Sport, rightly understood, is an occupation of the whole man, and while perfecting the body as an instrument of the mind, it also makes the mind itself a more refined instrument for the search and communication of truth and helps man to achieve that end to which all others must be subservient, the service and praise of his Creator."
