I've been loosing some battles lately... but I'm determined to get back on track. As I was recovering from DVT and PE in 2008 and loosing weight I developed a major back problem. This made it impossible to exercise for over a year. Unfortunately, when I don't work out I eat badly. My back is finally improving thank God! I'm finishing with structured physical therapy and moving on to my own program. I've been doing water aerobics which helps tremendously with my flexibility. I've added 2 x per week of strength training and 20 min of cardio. I'll be adding to that. I actually considered bariatric surgery because I was feeling desperate. For now I've decided that's not the path for me.
I'm looking forward to improved health!

Update: WOW its been a long time since I logged in here. I've had a lot going on. Got off of my workout schedule this past summer due to a move. Carrying heavy things up and down stairs constantly seemed like enough of a workout! My diet also went out the window since I frankly seemed to need more calories and I was under a lot of stress. Managed to loose a little weight. Not sure what my current is - weighing in at the gym today.

Starting this week my fitness goals are just part of my overall new schedule of goal achievement. I work from home and find that my time has been slipping away from me. The new schedule will include 1 day of water aerobics and 4 days of cardio/weights.

Loosely basing my diet on the "skinny chicks don't eat salad" philosophy.

I'm also starting a meditation schedule. My new quote:

"if by giving up small pleasures, great happiness is to be found, the wise should give up small pleasures, seeing the prospect of great happiness - the Buddha"

My Goals:
My goal is now to loose 150lbs. Naturally I would like to do that ASAP. Realistically, I think it will take a year and a half.
I hate that I've gained more weight since 08. The good thing is I know that I can take it off.
I know that I will feel 10years younger when I loose the weight.

My Program:
I am working out at least 5 days per week.
I do water aerobics 3x per week. I lift weights do cardio for 30min 2x per week.

I am focusing on eating good things and only when I'm hungry.

I try to eat as balanced of a diet as possible.

I find that the less refined carbs I have the better. I also try to eat the right kind of fat most of the time.
