I am 54 years old and have struggled with my weight all my life. There was never a stage in my life that I could eat anything I wanted to.....

I started SparkPeople in 2008 and lost 80 lbs only to gain it all back... sound familiar? I have again lost 80 lbs.

A lot has happened since I lost weight the last time. Life sometimes knocks you out cold and it sure did for me. I lost my 18 year old son 4 years I was trying to regain a semblance of life I gained a lot of weight....again. The gaining of weight was not the first time I have yo yo'd it was about the 5th or 6th time in my life, but food has always been my comfort and I used it. Fortunately, as I started to come out of my fog I also realized that I still have a lot to live for, mainly my now 201year old son and my husband.

I have been blessed all my life with excellent health, but at over 50 I was finding that was starting to decline as well.

What I finally figured out about weight loss is it is not a destination. It is a lifetime journey...and how you approach it is what makes the journey fun or miserable. It's all about attitude. I can loath getting up to go exercise or I can be grateful that I am healthy enough to get up and go exercise (one of my best friends doesn't have that luxury).

Attitude: It is the key!!

emoticon the weekend is here. Hopefully you will have an extra day to play!

Here some a different set of commandments for you:

The Ten Commandments of Permanent Fat Removal

    1. Thou shalt honor and believe in thyself.

    2. Thou shalt move thy booty. Move it and move it some more.

    3. Thou shalt never go hungry again. Eat small meals and healthy snacks throughout the day.

    4. Thou shalt stock the fridge with the right stuff - the fruits and vegetables of the earth, the melba toast of men who walked before us.

    5. Thou shalt honestly write it down. If you bite it, you must write it.

    6. Thou shalt weigh and measure thyself and thy food.

    7. Thou shalt drink enough Holy Water to frighten Noah and map out all the restrooms in thy village.

    8. Thou shalt not deny thyself a treat or two now and then.

    9. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's plate.

    10. Thou shalt not eat out of misery, boredom, anxiety ... but should they over-indulge, forgive thyself immediately.

    All Is Forgiven, Move On!

    Enjoy your weekend

Hey! I just moved to Camas too, last November LOL. Maybe we should start a transplant club. I didn't come as far though, only from Seattle. I saw you on the team and wanted to say hi. Hi!

What a coincidence....I moved to Camas from So Cal a year ago... I love it here but it has been hard because I have not made many friends yet.. You seem very motivated.. I was when I first joined SP but as of late I have not been doing so well... I am hoping to get back on track starting monday... emoticon
