Hi Everyone!

It seems like the battle of the bulge has always been my friend, yet as I look back I can see that I have conquered it before without even realizing it at times. The last time was prior to my wedding in June of 2007, I was able to get down to my lowest weight (160) since my freshman year at University. I look back on pictures from my senior year of high school, almost 10 years ago, and while I know that my body has changed since then I realize that I really did look wonderful and didn't even realize it. So, now my goal is not to be that girl who was always trying to lose just 5 more lbs and that would then be the prefect weight, but to get healthy, happy, lean, and fit! I would love to get back to that point I was at when I got married and that is my first goal.

So, here's a bit more about me! I'd like to start a family in the next year or so, but want to get my weight down first. I've heard over and over what a struggle it can be to lose that baby weight and I don't want to be trying to lose it as well as weight that I had been trying to lose prior to that. I also want to be as healthy as I can be when I start on a journey of that caliber so that I can already have those habits down and am able to pass them along to my children.

The biggest hurdles to my weight loss generally seem to be my work schedule and physical limitations. Last year I was transfered to a different location for work and it's a very long commute now. It wouldn't be so bad if to make my commute some what managable I didn't need to leave the house by 6am and then don't get home until generally 6:30pm. That's a really long day in and of itself and then to have to take care of dinner (and fight the take out urge which I don't always win) and any other chores that might need to be done I'm exhausted and ready to go to bed (did I mention that it's usually around 9 which this hits). This is something I'm really going to be working on in the new year though.

As for the physical limitations, I have knee issues which make it difficult to work out sometimes. I know I want to work out and that it'll do my knees a world of good but at the same time I also realize that once I'm done my work out I may be in pain. At the same time I know they'll never get any stronger if I don't work out, it's just hard to make yourself do something when you know the result for at least a while is pain. The elliptical machine is my best friend for working out, but I do occasionally get bored on it so I end up stopping sooner than I really would like to out of bordom rather than need. Since I'm aware of this I'm trying to overcome it by listening to music when I'm on it since that seems to keep me going, so wish me luck!

    Hi there, Kristina! How are you doing on your get healthy quest? I've lost 8 pounds since the 11th. I'm tickled pink about that. I head your intro above. I just recently was sent pics of me in a bathing suit at the age of 19. Oh, to be that "fat" again. ;) Hope you and D and C are well.

    You are right.. I'd have to start small.. I am usually good at planning and doing things, but once my streak is broken for some reason, I find it difficult to get back on track.. Thanks for your encouragement..
