Thank you so much for your comment on my blog and for the prayers. I greatly appreciate the support from you and everyone here on SP. This has come as such a shock. I didn't think I was going to have to worry about him going back but his wife leaving him has put him into quite a spiral and I think that has had a lot to do with this decision. He also thinks that now is the better time to return since his daughter is so young as he doesn't think she will know what is going on or miss him. I don't agree but there isn't anything I can do but support his decision.
Yes I think my son will be disappointed if the transfer doesn't go through as he has had other plans and the authorization hasn't been given, like going to officer candidate school last summer. He was disappointed about that but got over it quickly because he had his family (wife & daughter) to lean on but that isn't the case this time so yes it will be very difficult and disappointing if he doesn't get the go ahead for the transfer.
I haven't had to worry about my kids being so far away like you have until just recently when my oldest daughter moved to South Carolina to continue her schooling for Marine Biology and my stepson and his wife moved to Pennsylvania for her to continue with her schooling in Music therapy. Up until that time the farthest any of our children were was about 3 hours away. I guess that isn't quite true since my youngest son is about 10 hours away in Colorado for school right now also. When he finishes in 2 years I have no idea where he will be going as he will have to serve his 4 years in the army as he is going to school on an Army ROTC scholarship. The one thing there is that since he plans to go into intelligence (he wants to be a cryptologist) I don't think I should have to worry about him being sent to the front lines.
Yes you are right about trusting the Lord. I pray that he will keep all my children safe, even the ones that aren't in the military. We just never know what can happen in the world anymore. I will keep your son in my prayers also, that he stays safe when he redeploys next April.
