Hello and thank you for visiting my SparkPage. I am 43 years old and have struggled with being overweight the majority of my life. It seems like I went from a normal size child to overweight when I hit puberty and have been that way since. My highest weight was this year when I weighed 249 pounds. But that is not what got me here. It was my blood sugar readings going into the high 300's after fasting overnight. I met with a dietician and she started me on the Victoza shot and a carb controlled diet. Not a low carb diet, as I quickly learned.

I control my carbs by eating 30-40 carbs for the 3 main meals and 15 or less carbs for morning and afternoon snacks plus a protein before bed (sometimes). By controlling my carb intake I automatically control my calorie intake as I have seen while tracking my food with SP nutrition tracker. I don't limit myself to specific foods; I eat the same foods that my family eats but I pre-plan all of my meals in the morning so that I can stick to it. Dinner is the only thing I don't plan since my husband is the cook in the family. I eat whatever he cooks, I just track the carbs.

I have lost 30 pounds so far since April 2014 and have a total weight loss goal of 88 pounds by April 2015. I also have a goal to join the 5K Color Run and our local 5K Glow Run next year. I am, or have been, a very sedentary person most of my adult life so changing my bad couch potato habit has been tough.

I suffer from diabetic related issues such as neuropathy in my feet, which makes it painful to exercise. However, I am using the Leslie Sansone Walk Away the Pounds 1 and 2 mile videos 5 out of 7 days each week. Once I have that routine down I want to add in toning exercises 2 days out of the week.

I don't want to be a supermodel. I want to be healthy, come off of all these medications I am on and live a long life. That's me in a nutshell. Feel free to comment or add me as a friend.

My Goals:
To lose 88 pounds by April 2015 through diet AND exercise.

To join, and complete, the 5K Color Run and 5K Glow Run in 2015.

To be healthy and energetic again.

My Program:
Daily Victoza shot to control blood sugar. Carb controlled diet: 30-40 carbs per main meal (breakfast, lunch and dinner) then 15 carbs per AM and PM snack and a small protein at night to control nightly glucose. Using Walking Away the Pounds and SP videos.

Personal Information:
I am an Army Brat so I call the world my home. I graduated high school in Germany. I have lived in Northwest Florida for the last 21 years but dream of moving into the mountains somewhere north like TN or MI and northeast like CO or even WA or Canada.

Other Information:
I am an avid reader and love my kindle, it goes everywhere I go. I am currently reading Outlander by Diana Gabaldon (for the 2nd time), and just finished the Maze Runner series. I am also a Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Anne Rice and Bentley Little fan. My reason for being a couch potato: I am hooked on prime time tv shows. I have so many that it takes 2 DVR's to record them all plus some I have to watch in another room live. My favorite shows are Grey's Anatomy, Supernatural, (most shows on the CW are recorded lol) and Witches of East End (I have way too many to list here). I also like to write fiction, when I don't have writers block.
