Hello Everyone, my name is Laura. I am 31 years old and on a journey to lose weight and live a healthier lifestyle. I started my journey to lose weight on May 8, 2011. When I started my journey my reason was that I needed to fit into a dress for my brother's wedding that was a month away. I weighed 305 on May 8, 2011, I was devastated, how could I let myself get that unhealthy? Enough was enough! In that first month, I stopped drinking pop and started counting calories and practicing portion control. I lost 25 pounds the first month and my dress had to be taken in just days before the wedding. After I lost 25 pounds I made up my mind that it was time to save my life. I was going to get healthy, I was going to lose weight.I went from 305 to 187 in 12 months. That is a 118 pound difference! :) Shortly after I reached 180 pounds, I ended up facing some health issues, and I have been dealing with health issues ever since. It wasn't until November 2014 when I was finally properly diagnosed with a condition I have had for many years. I found out that I have pcos (polysistic ovarian syndrome) and a long line of other symptoms and conditions that go with it, including but not limited to hypothyroidism, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and insulin resistance. I have gained all the weight I lost back and then some. I find myself hovering between 350 and 355 pounds. Its devastating to know that 3 years ago, I was healthy and 180 pounds. But I refuse to give up and I continue working on living healthy each and every day! "Accept where you are, remember where you've been, but most importantly, know where you want to be."
