I am a 48 year old mother of 5 girls. I also have a full time job with crazy hours. I have found that I have been so busy looking after everyone else that somewhere along the line I forgot about me! I have now decided that it is okay to take time for me and have started a morning walking routine that is up and down the ski hill I live on, as well as doing 20 minutes on my eliptical trainer. It is hard to take this "me" time when I have laundry or something to do but it gets easier every day.
I started SparkPeople 2 years ago but had to leave due to some surgery. I am back and stronger than ever - working hard to take off 20 pounds!

My Goals:
To feel healthy! I would like to lose 20 pounds - 30 would be awesome. I want to get to that point where I can say without guilt that I come first. Seems like after 40 it is harder to take the "tummy" off. This is my major goal - take off the tummy!

My Program:
What seems to be working for me is an hour and a half walk in the morning before work - up and down hills. I then take a 30 minute power walk an hour after dinner. I have limited my red wine intake (something I love) and have upped my fruits and veggies. I have also upped my whole grains and lowered my meats. Red meat is only once a month now, replaced by salmon or halibut. I am having trouble keeping focused which makes sparkpeople so very important!

Personal Information:
My name is Laurie and I live in the beautiful sunny Okanagan Valley of British Columbia - wine country! I am 48 years old. I live up a ski hill so my walks literally go up and down. I have five daughters and an amazing husband who support me 100% in all I do. A horse, rabbit, dog, hedgehog and several fish round out the group!

Other Information:
I love to walk, horseback ride, garden, read and spend time with my family. I am a firm believer in the saying "it takes a village to raise a child".

    Well, it really has been a long time since I have been on here! So much has gone on in my life and I am afraid I have used that as an excuse to not get it together! I have lost 7 pounds recently so I am looking to that as a positive. My goal is another 20 and I am more determined than ever to achieve my goal!

    I'm typing my way around our little team...calling on every members' page to say hi! & to let you know what a valuable member you are to the sassy & sexy little project before I leave something motivational every day....not to worry about ploughing through loads of material....we're talking quality not quantity. Just 5 minutes of motivating material once a day...if you read an article in 3 minutes...great! job done!...soak it up...let it stay & think no more about it [unless you want to that is]....allow your subconscious do the work of over-writing any negative material fed to you way back when...
