Hello!! I'm in the process of lightening up. How 'bout you?

I've picked the user name livelightenfree because it accurately describes my goal - to live light and free - to lighten up! When I first joined I gave myself a Spark Goodie in the form of the 'sunshine' which is full of light - light has a spiritual significance to me. I believe the process of "lightening up" can also be a spiritual one.

I appreciate this community because while we work to achieve our personal/individual goals we celebrate one another's achievements as well. We respect our differences and learn from each other's unique perspectives - it's a wonderful, diverse community in which we still have lots in common - the efforts we put in to creating a healthier life for ourselves. Let's enjoy the journey together!

A great quote from Marianne Williamson...

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."

So...

MY TRANSFORMATION: I'm slimming myself physically. I'm strengthening myself physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. I'm engaging my process of learning and growth...I'm enjoying my process of Becoming!

And because of this, My Magical Little Fairy on my tracker is happily moving forward...

My Goals:
My main goal is to feel stronger and become more physically active (comfortably!)

My Program:
My program includes lots of swimming as I love swimming and it's easy on my knees. I joined a gym when the pool opened on my birthday!! - interesting timing, no!!?!! I'm also walking and I work out on the elliptical machine.

I ensure that my water intake is exactly that - water (hot water, cold water, room temperature, etc.) Sometimes I add some lemon, but that's it.

I am doing some form of cardio every day, weights every other day and tracking my fitnes and nutition daily.

I'm loving it! (Imagine that!) Really - I'm enjoying it - what a wonderful change.

I also track my spark points daily - I love those points!

The best part is when I get to connect with my Spark friends - I do that daily, too. It uplifts me. (That's when I get to spend my points on gift-goodies for my friends.)

Personal Information:
I live in Ontario, Canada. I love nature, as you can tell from my picture gallery, and am inspired by the beauty of the natural world.

I love light - both physical and spiritual. And I love the thought of "lightening up' !!!!

Other Information:
My favourite quote is:

"THE BEST AND MOST BEAUTIFUL THINGS IN THE WORLD CANNOT BE SEEN OR EVEN TOUCHED. THEY MUST BE FELT WITHIN THE HEART."
Helen Keller
(Who was both blind and deaf.)

Also...

"NO FOOD HAS THE POWER TO MAKE YOU EAT IT."
Coach Dean Anderson
from the Spark article "Drop the Fatitude and Get a Winning Attitude".

I earn most of my points from exercise. You will also earn awards for consistent drinking water, eating your produce, & exercising at least 90 minutes a week. I am not sure if that last one comes from one of my fast break goals, or just because I do it. At the beginning of October, you will see more awards if you are here posting your nutrition & fitness consistently.

I have always chosen pretty healthy foods. The nutrition tracker helped me realize how much I was actually eating. By cutting my calories about 250 / day from what I was eating, I have been able to lose weight. I have found that increasing my exercise has been the most important factor for me. The exercise has been key in getting my cholesterol under control. Even if I eat 500-600 fewer calories from what I used to, I don't seem to lose weight. The smaller decrease combined with exercise has been a winner for me.
