Hey! I've been fat my whole life. Well, since 5th grade, anyway. I've been through compulsive eating & binging, exercise bulimia, and self-starvation. I started on a healthy path to building a healthy relationship with my body several years ago, but I just finally started working out regularly and really viewing food as FUEL for an athlete in May. For the first time in my life, I have consciously lost weight in a healthy way. And I'm not planning to stop now! But it's not about the weight, for me. It's about being strong and healthy and happy so I can live to be 80. :-)

I'm 29, a knitter, a mom, a vegetarian, and liberal. I'm committed to living in harmony with the earth as best I can.

My Goals:
I started Jonathan Roche's No Excuses Bootcamp as a "Pay it Forward" participant at 303 pounds. I'm now down to 289 (sooo close to that first 15 pounds down!) I aim to lose 100 pounds, maybe more, we'll see how I feel when I get there. I also want to run a 5k. I finally love myself enough to know that I deserve to feel good and to have lots of energy, which working out and eating good food gives me.

My Program:
I'm trying to get up to working out every day so it's more a part of routine (knowing that one or two days are going to be QUITE light, probably just a 30-minute walk or something.) I am pretty consistent at 5 days a week, with 3 days of cardio interval training and 2 days of strength training. I eat every 2-3 hours, drink lots of water, and have cut back quite a bit on sweets.

Personal Information:
I'm from northwestern MN and have a six-year-old girl for whom I want to be a good example of both healthy lifestyle and a healthy relationship with my body.

    Congrats on taking the first step into changing your life to a more healthier one by joining the site. Spark is filled with amazing people that will motivate, support and encourage you on your journey. There is so much to learn and discover here, take this one day at a time. A couple of things I would like to suggestion to make you Spark experience a great one.

    1. Make goals for yourself. Each month I make a list of what I want to accomplish that month and break them down to smaller goals to work with week by week. This way the BIG picture doesn't seem so big.

    2. Join Spark teams. There are tons of teams here and you will be able to find ones that fit to what you like or want in a team.

    The key to success here is to be active and you've already started by joining. You will find that everyone is willing to help you out if you need it. Spark friends are here for support, motivation and encouragement. Good luck on your journey to a healthier lifestyle! Again, welcome to the SP family!
