I came to SparkPeople for motivation and inspiration in support of my personal transformation journey to climb a mountain -- literally and figuratively. For me, that meant getting healthy and dropping more than 200 lbs in weight so I didn't die of a heart attack, stroke or diabetes -- all run in my family. But it also meant getting healthy inside. I knew there were internal mountains to climb as well. For me this is not just a physical journey to weight loss, but an emotional and mental one to be my very best self.

In May 2012, after 18 months of working at it, I reached my goal weight. I lost -211 lbs and 11 dress sizes in 18 months, and I've now maintained that weight loss and my healthy lifestyle for 4.5 years (2016).

I did it by changing my mindset and putting myself in the equation of my own life. By going 100% all-in to practice self-care -- meaning eat healthy and follow a diet plan, move my body every day, and work on the "head" game and the limiting beliefs that were keeping me stuck and stalled. When I started, I weighed more than an NFL Defensive Lineman and yet my life was stuck and small. Today, I live happy, healthy and WHOLE -- and I view this as a life-long process.

How was I successful? I made my weight-loss and living in the equation of my own life more than a goal. To me, it was non-negotiable! I promised myself that I would not quit no matter what. And, to this day, 4.5 years sans -200 lbs, I have not quit! The journey continues.

Sparkpeople was a key support in phase two of my weight loss journey. I discovered this community when I joined for food tracking and support after I'd lost the first -100 lbs and had 100+ lbs to go. I signed up to be a SparkBuddy with my sister who was tracking her diet and exercise here and recommended it. But I found so much more in this online community! So thank you all.

My journey to healthy living is ongoing. We're never "done." But I am okay with that. In fact, I celebrate it! And I look forward to connecting with others here -- wherever you are in your journey. We're in this together. And, "we've got this!"

My Goals:
Maintain my healthy lifestyle and -200+ lbs weight loss...for life! Ensure that I am constantly living from the center of my equation of my own life -- living happy, healthy and whole. Self-care rocks and staying connected to others actively practicing self-care provides motivation, accountability and support.

Hike the entire Superior Hiking Trail (on the bucket list) and climb the next BIG mountain at Acadia National Park, as well as Katahdin in my beloved Maine.

Pay it Forward: Travel, speak and write to help others along the journey to better health, inside and out.

My Program:
Eating healthy, whole foods and food tracking here. Implementing my weekly 3-4x per week strength and HIIT exercise program, while walking 10,000+ steps every day. Ensuring that I have "me" time and continue my daily exercise with gratitude and mindfulness practice. Staying connected to healthy friends for motivation and support for life. Paying it forward by speaking, writing and coaching others to live in the center of the equation of their own lives, practicing self-care -- inside and out.

    I have been bad about tracking 'cause this week is SOOO crazy! I will do my best to pick it up today. So far I made it to aerobics at 6am and got my am snack in so that is looking promising.

    I know these next few days are going to be good to you! Keep it up!

    Sweet! You found me... today I'm not logging 'cause its a bad day. Meatfest .... all meat, beer, booze and desserts all night. I am going to try to be reasonable and not erase the progress I've made so far though!
