Remember that you've had huge changes in your lifestyle recently - returning from Haiti and having to say goodbye to the friends you made there, baby sitting your friend's children (wow, are you an incredible friend!), then saying bye to them too, trying to reclaim lost sleep, and getting back to being home alone again. I always find that's the time when I'm at my weakest so far as food is concerned.

I've learned, as soon as I start craving some form of junk food, to start looking through Spark Recipes, because not only does it distract me from those 'need junk food' thoughts, I somehow always manage to find the ideal recipe there - easy to make, more than one serving so I can freeze leftovers in individual servings, and nice and spicy! I was watching a food program the other night and apparently there is some ingredient (capsacain?) in hot chillies that causes our brain to release feel-good endorphins. Didn't know that, but its yet another excuse for me to add the chillies!

Just the preparation of the ingredients takes my mind off my cravings, and I always feel better about myself when I am stirring a big pot of food I know I'm soon going to be eating a portion of.

If a friend came to you, feeling upset because she'd had a few bad days combined with some good ones, think about what you would say to her. I'm guessing you would let her know you understood how she felt, then you'd tell her that she should pick herself up, dust herself off, and climb back on that wagon, because her journey wasn't over yet, that she still had a way to go. Think about it - why are we always so critical of our own weaknesses when we would accept them in our friends? Look at all you've done so far this year, you're one incredibly inspiring person, and I know you can achieve whatever it is you want to.

When I first read your Spark Page I must have missed the part in your personal information about you moving to Haiti for missionary work. Wow, those few words 'am currently in Haiti doing missions work' has really blown me away. If ever you begin to doubt yourself, take a look at your personal information, read that part of it out loud, and imagine you are reading it on another Spark page... I'm fairly sure you will be left feeling the same as I am now... a person would have to have a lot of inner strength, belief in a higher power, and courage to travel to a completely different country to spread God's word.

You, my girl, have no need to ever doubt your abilities. Just the opposite - you sent shivers down my spine with those words, and I hope that by checking out that tiny part of your Spark Page, you too will see the courage that lies deep within you to achieve anything you set your heart on.
