Faith fulfilled! Hope prevails! Love received! - All that & more when I reached my goal weight in February. Here's my story that became my journey of faith, hope & love. This WAS me, in picture on left, 4 yrs ago, weighing 322 lbs & only 5'2" tall with a BMI of 59. I was only 43 yrs old. I could only walk short distances without my extra wide walker with a pull down seat & before that, a cane for quite a while. My health was so bad, in so many areas, I decided on bariatric surgery, a RNY gastric by-pass. My journey includes over 20 yrs of trying to lose weight. Because my weight had damaged my health & reduced my quality of life, I had to do something quick AND drastic. Weight loss surgery IS drastic & not for everyone, but God gave me enough faith to take the step, in hope that it would change my life. The surgery's no magic pill, you work HARD & deal with lots of permanent, inconvenient, life-long changes. Even though it's not been easy, with lots of small AND large bumps along the road, I've LOST 194 lbs, ALL I need to lose! I'd say that's a miracle, at least for me. My journey of faith, hope & love has brought me far. Now my weight is 128 lbs & my BMI is 23.5. I'm a correct weight for my height & in normal BMI range. Hard to believe, but I was about 10 lbs lighter than now when I got married over 27 yrs ago. So, I'm still getting used to this little body after being big so long. In fact, I still feel that I'm large "mentally", even though my size 10 clothes say otherwise. I FEEL & LOOK like a new person. A current picture of me on goal weight day, out celebrating in my little black dress, is also on the left. God is SO GOOD to me! He must love me a LOT! Without His help, I couldn't have accomplished this amazing journey. I've so much faith that it'll continue, with hope of life full of incredible things to come, that I couldn't even dream of now & deeper love & gratitude in many areas of my life. My surgery gave me a tool to help get my weight off, but only if I did my part, still truly a gift from God. A gift given to me by an angel, my Mother, who supplied the finances for my entire surgery. She says it was worth every penny to save or prolong my life & I believe that's literally what the surgery did in my case. But God's given me the fruits of faith, hope & love to have reached 47 yrs old, walking around like a normal person! And what joy to see my 2 teenagers go through all the adventures of growing up. Now, I'm just trying to be healthy for my family & MYSELF & stay on the right track. I happened upon this website looking for a food diary, but got SO MUCH MORE. I just love SparkPeople & all it has to offer, including all my new on-line friends & teams! I'm being transformed, day by day. It really is a WONDERFUL LIFE & I love it better than ever.

Wow, you lived really close to where I am from. I come from a small town called Cerulean, but Hopkinsville is the best place to say. I went to Bowling Green a lot since it was only about an hour or so away from me. That is awesome that you are basically from the same area!
