Thank you for reading my blog “Fitting in with Mother Nature or NOT” The power company does have regulations to protect the lake but only right on the shoreline. There was a LOT of local opposition even to that. There are warnings about the dangers of clearcutting, erosion, poisonous runoff and resulting damage but some do not care. Their freedom to do as they wish is more important than the well being of our shared environment.

Really appreciated your comments on my follow up privilege blog, thank you. And: for the times, your parents were more enlightened than most!
The American focus on "rights", as illustrated recently in the debate between Dr. Fauci and Representative Jordan for example, is rather different from the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms . . . where no rights are absolute, but all rights are to be balanced with respect to the competing rights of others in a free and democratic society.
Rights don't exist except in a context of reciprocal responsibilities to respect the rights of others. So: peace, order and good government are the collective goals.

Thank you for reading my blog “Take the time – thank you card 53 years late” This past year has brought back so many memories of those who have helped me through the years. So important to thank them before it’s too late.
