April 5, 2013: Weight 164.8
I've made a decision. Forfeiting my health for too much of any food just isn't worth the temporary satisfaction. I want a quality life. I'm piecing it together bit by bit. Today I begin - not perfectly, but definitely better

June 12, 2012: Weight 138.
I'm feeling better today about life than I have in a very long time. Changes are occurring around me that have me smiling more than usual. Life is changing for the better, and it's reflecting in the way I'm taking care of myself. I'm breaking plateaus doing what I'm supposed to do. I know today that I can accomplish goals I've set for myself.

May 26, 2012: Weight: 139. 4

I'm celebrating the gift of love today. I'm realizing once again how important I am, first to myself and then to others. Sometimes we forget to show the love to ourselves that others show us, not recognizing that the process of exchanging the gift of love begins with ourselves. Sometimes too, we forget to thank those who have been receptive and reflective of our love.
Many thanks to all of you who welcome me into your world. I'm grateful to have you in mine.

MARCH 21, 2012: Weight in: 141.4
Either my scale lied to me on the 10th or I'm building muscle. Either way it's okay. I feel good, and doggone it, I look good too. I'm working on the cholesterol thing. My good cholesterol and triglyceride levels are perfect according to my MD. The bad cholesterol - well, I'm working on it. My MD is hopeful,; therefore, so am I.
Clothes I purchased in January are too big now. (I really did like the pumpkin-colored blazer, but I'll like giving it away even more.). My days are brighter. I feel better, and I'm working on creating yet a better me.

March 10, 2012: Weigh in: 140.4
Between February 5th & 26th, I only lost half a pound. I wasn't feeling my joy, and not feeling it was weighing me down. Over the last couple weeks, I've been sharing new experiences. I've changed some of my associations and my surroundings, and I'm smiling so much more. According to my scale, the heaviness I was feeling has been lifted, and is showing a five pound difference over the last nine days.

February 26, 2012: Weigh in: 145.4.
I went hiking for over two hours at the park. I saw geese, deer, and birds I can't name. I watched the sunlight kiss the rippling water, the sound of nature's music. The weather was pleasantly surprising. The gentle breeze was just enough to prevent me from being cold or hot. I walked on low hanging trees and got on my knees to crawl through a low underpass. I had company -- a gentleman friend (just a friend) who kept pushing me to go farther. It was a most pleasant experience.

February 5, 2012: Weigh in: 146.0
It's a fabulous day to be here. I'm doing what I'm supposed to do most of the time, and that's saying a lot.
I love that my scale doesn't go to 150...anything anymore. My play weight (three pounds) stays within range, and I'm finding myself losing a pound a week pretty easily now.
I've added lemon juice to my water because I read that it helps in a number of areas including weight loss.
I'm enjoying life today, and that's a good thing. I'm smiling on purpose. C'mon ... smile with me!

January 14, 2012
I feel good today. I'm gonna work out more than usual because I haven't been working out regularly lately. My mind keeps telling me to, but my body hasn't been cooperating. I regained the "sick weight loss," sleep patterns were erratic, blah, blah, blah. Enough of all that. It's a new day, and I'm renewing my commitment to take the best care of myself possible!

January 1, 2012: Caring for my friend Charmaine over a period of 11 days from Dec. 14 - 25, I ran my body down enough to have a temperature of 101.2 yesterday. But I don't care about that today. My temperature is almost back to normal and I'm weighing 146.6 pounds. Granted, I lost some weight because I was too sick to eat LOL, but it still counts as pounds lost. My breathing is still shallow, but I believe I can get around that.
I've not been tracking meals or working out. I simply couldn't. But today's a new day, so I'm gonna live the best I can today by starting with a workout. I don't want to "cheat" by losing weight because of illness. I want to EARN my weight loss.

December 13, 2011: Went clothes shopping & was surprised/thrilled to learn I've dropped TWO pants sizes. Oh yeah baby, size DOES matter!!!

December 2, 2011: I can't claim the 25 lbs. anymore. I've gained a few so I can only claim 21 lbs. lost. I've joined the Shooting Stars (You know who you are.) and my goal during the next 8 weeks is to lose 7.5 pounds -- and keep it off! OKAAAAY..... here I go!

November 21, 2011 . I've lost 25 lbs. in four months and I am truly amazed. That's an average of six pounds per month. Every week I'm fitting more of my favorite clothes. My cholesterol is down by nine. I'm SO excited, and I'm having the time of my life!!!

For the first time since 1996, I'm believing I can look the way I want. On July 21, 2011, I weighed 173 lbs. When I joined SP August 10th, I weighed 170. Within the next 12 days I was six pounds lighter. TWELVE DAYS!!! INCREDIBLE!!! That's exactly the motivation I needed. I'm looking forward to looking and feeling my best EVER!!!

Fitness Minutes: 8,209

My Goals:
1. Reduce overall cholesterol level to under 200.

2. Reduce shoe size by 1/2 if possible (I gained & my feet got bigger.)

3. Short-term weight loss goal: Lose 5 lbs. between now (5/26/2012) and June 16th.

4. Mid-range weight loss goal: Lose 10 lbs. by June 30, 2012.

5. Long-term weight loss goal: Reach and maintain a healthy weight (123-128).

6. Fitness goal: Become consistent with daily exercise.

7. Nutrition goal: Learn to avoid excess sugar. (This is absolutely the most difficult challenge of all for me.)

8. Motivational goal: Maintain a positive attitude no matter what.

My Program:
1. A minimum of 30 minutes daily cardio exercise.
2. A minimum of 3 days weekly core strength exercise.
3. A minimum of 3 days weekly upper body strength exercise.
4. Eat between 1200-1350 calories daily.
5. Reduce sweets intake.
6. Stay connected to SparkPeople.
7. Track and journal progress

Home workouts:.
Step aerobics; walking and dancing videos; dancing to fitness or other upbeat music; In-cycle; twist board, 3 lb. hula hoop; resistance bands; weights.

Outdoors: Walking/hiking in local state park

Personal Information:
Interests include writing & performing poetry; creating personalized greeting cards; restoring photos with Photoshop; self-studying about ancient Kemet (Egypt). Am a member of the Sep Tepy study group of the Association for the Study of Classical African Civilizations and Taller (pronounced tah-jer) Puertoriqueno.

Other Information:
"The SPARK" has become one of my favorite books, and because of SparkPeople, I am learning to cook creatively.
