Strange name? well this is where I have been forging the new me so I felt it was fitting.
My name is Michael. Back in the middle of december 05 I weighed in at a whopping 293, a coworker made acomment in front of others about how I looked 10 monthes pregnant. That was the start. I stumbled on this site January 7 2006 and what a blessing it hs been. I have made some great friends, and have learned, no learned isn't the right word. I've always known proper nutrition, and excercise I just never followed them. I was very into bodybuilding in my late teens and early 20's. weighed around 160-170. then life happend. marraige, kids, responsibilty, and I got lazy. The food tracker and the support have ben the keys to my ongoing weight loss.

I am 38 years old and plan on being in the best shape of my life before I reach 39.
Well It's 2008 Time for a bit of an update. I was down to 211 and feeling great and again I GOT LAZY! That is my biggest problem not paying atention to the pants getting tighter, staying away from what I know works.

Ok so last year was a bit of a rollar coaster ride. At least I finished on a positive not and am looking forward to starting the new one well. my goal for the year is 100lb loss. that will avg to less than 2lbs per week. right now I am avg 3lbs per week but I know that will slow. I am going to continue mondays as my official weigh in day just because it seems to make me behave more on the weekend.

I am almost unchanged in 3 years. I have been with SP since 1/7/06 and am about the same as I was. I am tired of loseing and gaining it back. I am taking the advice of a friend and am done "loseing weight" it implies I will find it. I am changing my lifestyle I see many people talking about Body for Life, I'm not going that route but I am going to create my body for life.
Since Thanksgiving I have I have done well, I actually came through Christmas and continued to lose. Right now I feel incredibly motivated. I wish I could bottle this feeling. I have updated my goals and trying to become more active on the teams I'm on here. The teams here really help but I tend to over extend and join to many so am trying to stay with a few and commit to them.
I also have tried to start running again. Right now I am to heavy and out of shape to truely run but am working on endurance slowly to avoid injury. I just entered my first (of many) Race for early February.
I'm not sure if this is good or bad but....I see blogs from people all the time saying they have lot a lot of weight but still think of themselves as fat. I have the opposite problem which I think partially hinders me obtaining my true Body for Life. I have become to comfortable in this skin, I dont "see" myself as fat until I see myself in a mirror. I am realising I avoided mirrors for a long time now. I am putting them up and making a point to look in them to see myself as the restof the world does. I am not not the young, tight body builder I was but I will be......see you here next year.!

very excited. my weight isnt moving well but I really feel good. Runnung my first road race on Sunday, The johnnycake Jog. A 5 miler.

Personal Information:
I am 40,
I have had a weight problem all my life except from 18-23ish as I was in the military and then lived at the gym but then life happened. I recently hit my all time high 293 and because of multiple reasons the light finally went off and I am going to do this.

In 2006 I was down to 211 and I've let it creep back. wont happen again.

    Michael, you were so right about the negativity in the Bootcamp team. It's so hard to login there without that energy smacking you in the face. I've tried a few times to check out the other forums, but it's just disheartening that people feel the need to control so much (especially since creating new threads was only for the other section). I haven't formally left yet, but I am also not being active.

    I really need a supportive team so that I can lose like I did on the Yellow Sunshine Blasters three (!) years ago. Remember that? Our team was awesome.

    I also noticed that you are leaving Bootcamp. What amazed me is that you said you wanted to change and avoid negative people. In my opinion, by posting that, you, yourself are negative. I'm not trying to annoy you. I would love for you to continue with bootcamp in general and forget about the "team". If you've been with SparkPeople for that long, you should know that there are ebs and flows of people coming and going. In reality, you need to be concerned with only your health.
    As for me, this is MY YEAR!! ME stands for My Energy, My Enthusiasm, My Effort, My Evaluation, My Elation, ME.
    Please continue with bootcamp for YOU!!
