I discovered Sparkpeople by chance, on the net,in January 2017, as I was looking for alternatives to other weight loss programs. I can't believe this wonderful site is for free! It is so full of wonderful tools and articles to motivate you daily and to help you start taking care of yourself. Sparkpeople, I have been looking for you since I became 40 years old! Good thing I finally found you!

Fitness Minutes: 5,370

My Goals:
As I am getting older and the health problems are appearing (high blood pressure, borderline diabetes, sore joints, falls with fractures, sleep apnea, obesity, low energy, anxiety), my main goal is to have dealt with all these issues by the time I am 60.

My Program:
I got a sleep evaluation in the fall and got a C-PAP in December. This machine is doing wonders for me. I no longer snore and I don't wake up at night anymore. I feel rested in the morning. This has affected positively my blood pressure (normal now), my energy level and my anxiety.
Since I started Sparkpeople in January 2017, I have lost 8 pounds, walk daily, and finally realised how to take care of myself. I want to keep on doing it for as long as I can.

Personal Information:
I am 58 years old. I work full time in a health community clinic, north of Montreal, Quebec. I am an occupational therapist. I visit handicapped and elderly people in their homes, to evaluate their functional capacities, and provide them with services and adapted equipment that will allow them to stay at home as long as possible. I am the mother of three grown up children and my biggest pleasure is family reunions with them all. I have had two burnouts in the past 5 years. Now is time to take care of myself if I want to reach retirement with my dear husband and life partner.

    Thank you for the resistance bands Spark Goodie!!! I actually use resistance bands! My favorite are the 10 inch bands, just above my knees, in a squat, walking side to side--usually about 10 steps left & then back---until my glutes are on fire & I can't stand up straight! :)

    thank you for your response on my blog. I wish I could just eat one or two squares of chocolate. I have found that cheap chocolate really ends up making me anxious and I too have more of a trend toward expensive darker chocolate. But find I feel best when I stay away from sugar. Which is so perplexing why I eat it at all
