I have been overweight, heck, obese all my lif e. I got to my all time high of 257. Wow. I decided with the urging of my Doc to have a gastric banding done. But before I could get insurance approval I had to go on a medically supervised diet.

Well, I had been on every single diet in the world by that time. Failed everyone. Oh sure, I would lose weight at first, but it would come back when I ended the diet and it brought company. How was this going to work. But I needed to do it. I decided to do something new. Log my food. Since the one thing all my diets had taught me I was eating healthy foods, now I needed help with portion control.

I measured, I used smaller plates, I joined curves. I wanted that banding. I wrote every thing down and counted my calories. I cooked healthy, snacked healthy, was healthy. Went on a 117 mile bike ride and lived. And something amazing. I lost 59 pounds. And a realization I could indeed do this myself without having surgery. I just needed a goal and motivation. Yeah, no surgery for me.

I did good until a couple of years ago my kids moved back home briefly and I changed my cooking to meet their needs, back came 20 pounds. But I didn't panic, I didn't fail, I just started tracking everything again when they moved out am eating good again.

So so far I have lost 7 pounds of the weight I put on and am still moving toward my goal of 160. So another 59 to go. I am in no hurry. I am just happy to see the scale go down at my weeking weigh in's and not up. Because heck, I am getting to old to keep acting like a yo yo.

    GOOD MORNING EVERYONE.
It's a beautiful day here in New York City.
I will be out for the whole day today. It is my sons birthday. We will be going to dinner this evening. Not to worry I already did the tracker. Steak, half of a baked potato(will share with hubby),salad and a diet coke. One bite of my sons birthday cake, for luck. Will stay on track.
Grandson is coming too. We will be taking him to Van Cortlandt Park, to the duck pond to feed the ducks and then to play ground. So lots of walking today, bending and pushing grandnson on the swing.
    Enjoy your weekend

"Keep to your goals." I'll keep that phrase in mind. Another one I like is "Choose Calm." Thank you for reading and commenting on my blog.
