I discovered Sparkpeople in February, 2008. I think it is a great website with wonderful helps for people losing weight and developing healthy lifestyles. I was impressed with the creator's purpose for the website of giving back and helping others!

My goal is to lose 80 pounds and overcome emotional, binge type eating behaviors. I have developed these unhealthy behaviors over a lifetime but now its time to turn them around.

I'm excited to be on this journey with a group of like minded people; so thank you all for any encouragement and help you can give me a long the way! And hopefully I will be able to encourage you as well! I very excited today because I just earned an trophy. It is 6/17/10....I want to see how quickly I can earn the next trophy. It will take around 2500 points. So that will take some time and growth (hopefully)....and most definitely some weight loss. After being here for 2 years, I'm finally getting involved and eating more wisely. Learning to practice restraint and less late night eating and binging. So I'm feeling very positive about my life.

Yesterday for awhile I was really not happy with myself feeling as if I can't or don't ever achieve any goals Then I was reminded that is not true....I CAN! So my attitude changed to one of strength instead of defeat. Then today I learned I need to set some specific, measurable goals! And I see that I'm writing a blog instead of an introduction text. So I will start that now, a blog.

It's September, 2017, and I'm still here! Looking for change that only I can bring for myself; but I have seen many of you change and adopt healthy lifestyles. That has been encouraging to me. Since the picture was taken of my grandsons and myself, they have all become men. Two are married and one has served in the military and is now going to college and is serving in the National Guard. I am blessed. My progress is slow but I am most thankful that I no longer indulge in binge eating for days or a week at a time. After my husband passed in 2003, I developed a habit of eating a sandwich and reading when I went to bed at night. That is another habit I have overcome since joining Sparkpeople. 6/15/18---Time for an update, I've been here for 10 years, I have lost some weight but not nearly as much as I should have. I have developed better better eating habits; however I'm not consistent about making the best and healthiest choices. I will continue to work on this habit and also I need to exercise...move more! Sparkpeople is the best help for me!!

    Thank you for your comment on my Sparkpage. I am glad that my blog meant something to you and that you liked my idea about "The Today Club". I hope that it helps you in some way. Everyone puts things off but taking care of things rather then putting things off can relieve a lot of stress in your life and make it easier to accomplish your goals.

    We are often afraid of reaching for our goals and dreams because we don't want to fail. If we give our best each day and move towards our dreams and goals then one day we will realize that we do more that we ever thought possible.
