Tired of living the rat-race life, I have recently given up my high-stress job and become self-employed as a big step in improving my quality of life. Now I'm ready to start the next stage, which is to improve my health before my 36th birthday... and beyond!

My philosophy in life is "all things in moderation" and I am working on practicing what I preach more when it comes to food. Joining SP and tracking my calories for the first couple of weeks has been a real eye opener - what I thought was moderation turned out to be slight overindulgence! It's this that has probably kept me on the heavier side; it all adds up over time.

I have always been overweight, sometimes more so than others. My family (on the American side) is full of obese people, most of them unhappy. My dad didn't make it to his 60th birthday, and died incredibly overweight & had lots of health problems related to that... in fact I am sure that the colon cancer that caused his death was tied to bad diet. So I want to break this cycle and live more like my Japanese family, who are all 'normal' weight, but they still love food and are very happy people! I believe it is possible to be a food-lover and still live a healthy life.

I love organic, natural, healthy food as much as I *USED TO* love Krispy Kreme donuts... since starting SP my tastes have started to change so I don't crave those Krispy Kremes so much! I love to cook and eat all kinds of food - I was vegetarian for 15 years, and still do not eat meat - but I do love sustainable fish and organic free range chicken. But I would choose vegetarian food over these any day of the week - I couldn't live without nuts, seeds and a rich variety of vegetables in my diet.

    You are so beautiful and doing so well! I want so badly to commit to a healthy eating lifestyle. I live with people who aren't on the same page as me and they constantly bring junk food into the house! Its so frustrating! I feel like crap most of the time and I know its my eating habits. Now that I've found spark-I have the support I need! Its nice to meet you~ You have motivated me to do better for my health! emoticon
