I am coming up on my 3rd Sparkiversary having officially joined on March 8,2010. I thought it was time to update my Spark page.

When I initially joined , I was looking for an easy way to keep track of calories. I have had a life long struggle with weight - and was yet on another quest to get my weight under control and exercise back into my life. I had a professor in college that called this yo-yo dieting approach the Rhythm method of girth control.. and I must confess that I had been practicing this method for years. I was trying to break out of the cycle!!

I must admit that I didn't appreciate all the benefits of Spark and stopped using it soon after I joined. Nine months later my daughter redirected my attention to the site with a Blog she had written about me. She also shared how the site was helping her to successfully loose weight. She inspired me to give the site another look and helped me learn about how to use it. It was a wonderful gift and I have been sparking ever since! The site helps me stay accountable to myself and the goals I set for myself. The support of Spark Friends and the Spark community keep me motivated and involved providing support to others.

I was fortunate to have two weight loss programs at work that got me started on the way to a healthier life style - the first one was called Change for Life and began Sept 2009 ( I lost 17 # ) and the second one was called Get Real , it was during this time that I Got Spark and haven't turned back.

This January I celebrated my birthday and I attained the goal I had set for myself 2 years ago- I wanted to be 150 # by the time I was sixty five and I have done that!! Woo Hoo!!! The second part of the goal maintain this weight for the rest of my life will be an ongoing process. I am determined to break out of the cycle of the Rhythm Method of Girth control. I want to maintain my healthy senior lifestyle and continue to hike, snow shoe, cross country ski, cycle, garden and build rock walls for many years to come.

    HI Peggy,

How are you doing? Thank you so much for stopping by my blog and wishing me a Happy Birthday and my wonderful Workout Clothes Goodie! That was so sweet of you! I was so excited to get in the 150's that I am letting the momentum carry! Today I weighed in at 157.8 and boy was I excited. My goal was to be 155 by the end of September and I am within reach! We CAN and WILL do it because our health is the most important thing!

Are you keeping up the momentum that you had in August? I hope so because you were doing so great! Let me know how everything is going when you get a chance, okay? Have a wonderful week to come!

    Hi Peggy!

I definitely understand about not Sparking consistently! We all have our lives to lead and sometimes we need to take a break a little. But don't that let you sidestep from healthy eating! I'm glad that you put the breaks on stress eating. That is definitely the worst for sure.

I am doing pretty good. I am in the 2nd week of the Spark Solution challenge and it is going really well. I too put the breaks on my "grazing" while I am making dinner and "truthfully" tracking my food and it has made a big difference for me and I dropped 4 lbs. I knew I could do it and I really put my mind to it! This is my year to dispose of (I don't want to find it again, so I wont say lose... emoticon ) all of my extra weight - 16.8 lbs. to go.

It is not just the weight that is so important to me. It is also being healthy, warding off cancer and other diseases, and taking the extra pressure off of my knees. I had operations on both knees because I had a lot of torn cartilage and alignment problems and my knees don't need any extra pressure.

I'm glad that you stopped in and let me know how you were doing. I hope you continue to do that if you have the time!

    Yes, emoticon and WE WILL!!!

Have a Happy 4th and a great week!
