My two best friends! Sampson and Boots!

I've lost 6 lbs since Christmas. But that isn't the biggest part of it. I've lost 24 inches and one dress size. That's the biggest victory so far! I started seeing a chiropractor two weeks ago for my back, and they have given my life back! I can do so much more now than I was before. I can stand longer, walk longer, and just do more longer. I feel like a whole new person! I'm loving it!

Hello, my name is Brenda, and I'll be 50 this coming July. I've been a member of SparkPeople for nearly 10 years (September is my Sparkversary) and my weight has been all over the place in that time. I've seen success. I've seen defeat. But I keep coming back, because I have yet to give up. I'll never give up.

2016 and 2017 were two of the hardest years of my life, and my physical self took the brunt of it. I gained 100 lbs in the process thanks to both physical injuries and mental anguish that brought me literally to my knees.

But it is 2018. I'm no longer held captive by those injuries or the mental lows that those brought with them. I'm happier. I'm healthier. My head is back in the game, so it is time to put my body back into it again, as well.

The game plan is to get active in the 5% Challenges once again with the Teddy Bear team (Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall), head to the gym to do my cardio and strength training, do more at home workouts like yoga, and start selecting healthier food options. I have all of the tools, I just need to use them.

I've already lost weight this year. I'm already down from a 24 to a 22. I've already lost 24 inches all over. So, I know I'm already doing something right. It is just a matter of staying motivated.

With that, I work in the IT industry as a quality assurance analyst. I live in the Carmel, Indiana suburb just north of Indianapolis with my two furbabies, Sampson (13 year old doxie/springer spaniel mix) and Boots (7 year old Boston Terrier). I have a love of all things outdoors. I am a former competitive endurance swimmer and a prolific writer. I maintain two blogs: one on personal organization and the other living with bipolar disorder.

My Goals:
My #1 goal is to lose the 100 lbs that I gained since 2016 after a major back injury and the mental issues that hampered me in the process.

My Pampering Goals: we go!

1. $1 for every pound lost
2. $1 for every inch lost
3. $.50 for every day I stay in my calorie range
4. $.50 for every day of 30 minutes or more cardio
5. $.50 for every day of strength training

My Program:
My 2018 Spring 5% Challenge Commitment Goals

I will commit to getting in 30 minutes of cardio (walking in the pool or aqua fit) a day for the 8 weeks (56 days) of the challenge.

I will commit to getting in 30 minutes of strength training three a week for the 8 weeks of the challenge.

I will commit to eating a clean / whole food diet, with mostly cooking at home

I will log my daily calories and post my exercise minutes

I will log my weight each week on Saturday

I will log my Living the Good Life points

I will check in with my team daily by commenting on the message board

I will be supportive of my teammates and read and comment on blogs and pages

I'm in Carmel/Westfield, Indiana, and pretty much from the Indiana area. I have two dogs, Sampson, who I lovingly call wondermutt, and Bootsie, who I call the Boston Terror. I am not married, and have no children.
