Nancy- Just couldn't help myself. I've never commented on anyone's page before. You sound like me when I made excueses. I have two daughters in sports. After working all day and taking them to practice and/or games, thought I didn't have time for anything else. It was hard to get started. Now I go to the gym at 6:00am. The girls get themselves ready for school while I'm gone. When I get home I do a load of laundry or load the dishwasher, shower and get ready for work. After work I make supper and the dishes wait til morning while we're off and running. I really hope you find what works for you. I was just sleeping/lying in bed too much. Thankfully I don't have a job that requires "homework". You can do this. Making a schedule works for me - I like checking things off the list. Good Luck.

Hi Nancy, glad to meet you. I'm 41 and my goal is to lose 33 more pounds. I too had the Norplant, but I never imagined it had anything to do with my inability to lose weight. I always believed I sabotaged my metabolism by years of starving myself by eating only 1000-1200 calories a day even while breastfeeding and working out up to six hours a day. Anyways, I started going to Curves because even though it didn't feel like a real workout to me, it was the only way I could discipline myself to go every day after work since I only had to commit for 30 minutes. I love moving my body, so I usually spend about an hour because I extend the stretching portion at the end of the circuit. After going for a month or two, I decided to buy the Member book because I was intrigued by the promise of being able to retrain my metabolism. How revolutionary to reccommend that when you hit a weight loss plateau, you raise your caloric intake! Also, there are two different food plans depending on whether you do better with a higher protein or higher carb diet. You take a quiz to determine this. I started out on the higher carb version based on the quiz, but lost no weight after one week, so I moved over to the higher protein version which makes me feel better and has more foods I like to eat. After four weeks of almost no change, five pounds just vanished and it was 98% pure fat!, more than a whole percentage of body fat! I am not the most patient person in the world. I was just about ready to give up. I mean, I'm the kind of person who works out and is looking for results the next day! I guess what I'm trying to tell you Nancy, is be patient with yourself and find what works for you because we are all different and that is what makes life exciting. I found that when I treat myself with kindness instead of meanness, I get just as much results but I am a happier person who is kinder to others. Walk in balance. 4917 days ago
