Finding my bliss again.

One of my key mantras yet again. Exercise is still the best medicine.

This is a concept I need to apply regularly.

March 6, 2021 Update:

I just finished the 2021 Winter 5% Weight Loss Challenge with a 2.5 pound loss. Yeah!

January 2, 2021

In one week, on January 9, the 2021 Winter 5% Weight Loss Challenge begins. My interim goal was to start at or below my ending weight from the last challenge, and I'm happy to say I'll be able to do that, provided I don't indulge in anymore unexpected ice cream purchases. What was I thinking?

Fitness Minutes: 63,908

My Goals:
I want to stay healthy, mobile, and lean for the rest of my life.
I'd like to follow "The Younger Next Year" advice including 60 minutes of exercise 6 days a week for the rest of my life.
Return to the healthy weight I maintained in my 40s, now that I've hit my 60s.
Continue to run/walk, and exercise with intensity.

My Program:
March 6, 2021 Update:
Exercise has to be my priority.
1. Jog outdoors 3 to 4 times a week, increasing my steady state distance.
2. Do 4x4 HIIT once a week, or use quick intervals known as "strides."
3. Use Essentrics videos for mobility and flexibility. Start on non-running days, working toward daily.
4. Monitor my fitness levels using heart rate.
5. Revise my program when we go to our southwestern home if the fitness center or pool are available.

Nutrition Goals:
1. Make a conscious effort to increase water intake, 5-6 cups; 8 cups is not realistic for me.
2. Reduce alcohol consumption.
3. Monitor trigger foods closely.
4. Eat a Mediterranean diet as much as possible.

Accountability Goals:
1. Weigh-in weekly, Saturdays for the 2021 Spring 5% Challenge.
2. Post exercise, LTGL goals every day.

Personal Information:
My DH and I are retired. Both of us were reared on family farms, so we love open space and quiet whenever possible. We are able to travel between those two farms, as well as to winter in the Southwest for health reasons.

Other Information:
I love baking, cooking, and eating. So aside from a sweet tooth, I cook from scratch and have a relatively healthful diet. I enjoy sewing, knitting, reading, and gardening when on the farm. As a person on faith, I believe it's important to care for ourselves, others, and our planet.

Thanks for the chuckle-inspiring goodie! Yes, to think of actually dressing up is a great goal! I did put on a nice outfit for Easter even though I didn’t go anywhere. OK, I’ll commit to tracking one week at a time. I already have to catch up today. As you say, it does work. emoticon

“The Lord is risen indeed. Alleluia.” A low key two-person Easter dinner made it possible not to overindulge, and my scale shows a lb loss! My birthday is tomorrow, and that will be more challenging. If I can manage a loss this week, I can surely handle the rest of the challenge. We can do it! Hope you had a wonderful and blessed Easter.

Yes, eggstra challenging time to start with Easter Vigil, Easter, and my birthday on Tuesday. I’m aiming to eat light fare otherwise and be reasonable about the special occasions. Homemade hot cross buns sound wonderful!
