Thank you for the team welcome mail. I was diagnosed last December with type 2. I was prescribes Actos once a day. Told to use a diabetic diet and said I could find one on the web. Also needed to lose 50 pounds. Not much more guidance than that. If you have time please read my blog called Screaming, Dreaming and doctor's visit.
Thank you for the support and information you give. 3774 days ago
FYI, I am Type I, diagnosed in 1970, so in November it will be 40 challenging but learning years.
Therapy is ICT, 4 or more bg tests daily. Bolus insulin is Apidra, Basal insulin is Lantus, injections 4x daily or more, depending on bg. I have been on Symlin 60 for about a month.
I'll post other medications in a private e-mail.
FYI, I subscribe to Diabetes Self-Management e-mail. Same group?
I do not say "I am a Diabetic." I prefer to say "I have Diabetes." To me the difference is significant. Diabetes does not control me, it is a chronic condition I control. A favorite analogy of mine is for most people the pancreas is an automatic transmission. With Type I, mine is a stick shift!
