My name is Joy and I have been struggling with weight issues pretty much my whole life. I've tried it all - from pills and shakes to Jenny Craig and personal coaches. I have had success at sparkpeople in the past and am hoping this time I can lose the weight permanently!

In 2010 I participated in a university weight loss study and lost 60 pounds through calorie restriction and exercise, however my back deteriorated and I had to stop exercising and my weight went back up to 250 pounds by the time I had surgery (7/2/12). I am off restrictions and completed PT in June of 2014. I still get winded very easily. So happy to not be in pain. Looking at calorie cycling and slowly adding exercise.

May 2017 - my job keeps changing my roles and responsibilities even though I have been there for 12 years. I am now even higher than I was after surgery, averaging about 280 pounds. Over the next 6 months (by end of year) my goal is to lose at least 25 pounds and keep it off. I am investigating intermittent fasting, HIIT and restarting exercise.

My Goals:
To lose weight. I think I want to aim for 195 and then reevaluate.
To gain endurance - to walk up the 3 flights of stairs to my car without dying. To fit into size 14 clothes again. To be able to wear my wedding rings. To be able to dive again...

My Program:
Walk 5000 steps per day (minimum) and start to increase this to a goal of 10,000 per day. To ride my exercise bicycle at least 15 minutes per day. To limit soda, and eventually limit calories to 2000 per day. To increase water to 6 cups per day. To get 7 hours of sleep today.
