It's really hard to train in the winter! I ended up getting a membership at rockwell gym just so I could run indoors and train for the green Bay marathon. I think next time I will sign up for one int he fall so I can train in the summer.
Hows' Chicago?? I ran the rock and roll half out there in 2010, it was fun but WAY too hot by the time we got to the 9th mile. People were dropping left and right!
I think I know who Lynn is, I'll have to log into CVRA and see if I can find out for sure.
My best NON expert advice is to sign up for a race first. Get is set in your head that you are committed to that 13.1, THEN start training. There are tons of schedules out there you can use, just google search half marathon training schedule. Commit to the distances, pick a schedule that works with your schedule so there's little chance you'll miss a run. Here's my most important piece of advice: Once you complete a 13.1 you'll realize how mental the whole thing is, it's completely doable, you just have to get it in your head that you can do it.
