Each day that I make healthy choices I feel that energetic glow that makes life so joyous. And that glow improves with practice. I choose to embrace who I am today. And I take responsibility for the quality of my life by making responsible and healthy choices in all aspects of my life. The by-product of a Healthy lifestyle is a healthy body weight. I'm not exactly sure what number that is for me. If I keep my focus on living my healthiest every day, I am sure that a lot of different numbers will be healthy for me, along the way.

My Goals:
Lower my A1C!

Make Healthy Choices

Keep a Positive Attitude

Take full responsibility for my quality of life.

My Program:
On August 9th, I went back to my old account on Atkins.com and started following Induction (the first stage with 20 net carbs. Net carbs are total grams carbs - fiber grams.) At my Dr.s appointment 10 days later, I told my Dr. that my blood glucose levels were too low at bedtime (78) and she told me to go off meds (Invokana 100mg) and agreed to let me try and keep my sugar levels low by diet and exercise. I keep accruing information and have since acquired a copy of Dr. Fung's book "The Obesity Code" where he recommends a program of Intermittent fasting to lower insulin levels in the bloodstream. I have been eating a full day of a low carb diet one day and just eating dinner on the alternate day for about a week now. My body seems to be responding well to this and I am losing weight. Even more significant to me is my fasting blood sugars are in non-diabetic ranges. I keep waiting for them to creep up, but so far they have been lower than when I was taking medication. I will continue on

I knew someone would ask about my favorite artwork. I might should blog about it. But since you asked-- if I could own any piece of art in the world it would be The Starry Night by Vincent van Goh. The movement in that painting is amazing. I can imagine the wind. No wonder "Vincent and The Doctor" is my all time favorite Dr Who episode. And second place for Dr Who--Partners in Crime (the adipose episode). Sorry to rant if you are not Whovian.

Thanks for checking out my blog, it was such great information from Spark, I just felt the need to share. There is just so much more to health than the scale. We are all very complicated works of art, and together, we help one another see our own value as the treasures that we are.

Hi, Nancy. Thank you for stopping by my blog and for your encouragement. I just saw you are living the Whole 30 lifestyle. I borrowed and read that book about a month ago, and then picked up the cookbook. The recipes look awesome. I'm going to be giving the Whole 30 a try. Your experience with it is very encouraging. Keep up the good work! emoticon
