I am a mother of three teenagers and I have been married for 19 years to a wonderful man. We live in the far north of Canada. Away from the chaos and fast food of city life.

I have been on Spark People now for almost two years. It has been an incredible journey so far and it is far from over yet. I have lost 40 pounds since January 1, 2007. Yes, I am one of those people who sets a New year's resolution. Actually I have set the same one for the past 10 years - to lose weight. This is the first time that I have actually stuck to my resolution. Spark People has given me the encouragement I needed.

My resolution for 2009 is to get to my goal weight and to tone up my body. I want to have a more defined waist and less flabby arms. I will get there eventually, but I know that it isn't over yet. At least I am enjoying the journey instead of asking the age-old question "are we there yet?"

After having major surgery in Sept. 2008 my goals have been postponed a bit. Definitely not forgotten though. Hopefully I will reach them by June 2009. Just in time for my daughter's graduation.

My Goals:
Weight loss goals:

1. 170 pounds - 1 bag of flour gone. Reached March 24, 2007.

2. 165 pounds - 1/2 way to goal. Reached April 16.

3. 160 pounds - within a healthy weight range. Reached April 25.

4. 157 pounds - same weight as my husband. Reached May 28.

5. 150 pounds - wedding weight 17 years ago. Reached Nov. 26.

6. 140 pounds - goal weight.


My Program:
I am walking and running approx. 5 times per week. When the weather is nice I exercise outside. If not I use my Elliptical. I also try to do strength training at the gym 3 times a week.

I am not on any special diet. I wanted to lose weight in a way that is maintainable. To me that means eating foods that I normally eat and enjoy. I don't want to be eating things I hate just to lose weight. Where's the fun in that?

I live in the Yukon - way up north in the middle of nowhere.

    So sorry Annie for not writing sooner! I was so busy with getting back from the cruise, getting back to work, dealing with Annelise's spur of the moment birthday party and last night's office burglary.

    It's been crazy, sorry!

    I hope that you and your family are doing well. It was really great meeting you all. I am sure you had a blast. We al were thrilled with the New Years cruise. We are already planning this New Years cruise. It is a definite YES! My kids absolutely loved it.
