Ti's DONE being the fat girl!
Hi, I'm Ti.
I joined Spark in February 2008 and have since lost 110 lbs / 50 kgs, I reached my goal in February 2010, almost exactly 2 years after starting with SP and have been maitaining my healthy habits for the last 2 years. It become quite apparent that I had taken weight loss a little too far and was looking somewhat skeletal, so I have been slowly regaining a little weight in order to find out where I am most comfortable.

Fastforward to 2014 and I have now gained back about 22 lbs / 10kg and have decided that I not as comfortable - I was most comfortable about 10 lbs / 5kgs lighter, so I'm back on a path to re-losing that weight, picking up all my healthy eating habits and exercising slightly more than in maintenance mode. It turns out that maintenance is SO MUCH HARDER than losing weight, it's a constant balancing act for the rest of your life! I try not to stress about it too much, but I do still feel like that some good choices havent become ingrained habits, so I need to keep working at them all the time.
When I first joined SP I was just looking for advice on where to start, anything that would help me get out of a rut - I never imagined how much it would change my life! I've learned, a lot, and everyday I learn something new. SP and all the peeps I've met here keep me motivated every single day to make good choices every single time. I now understand that these changes are for life - this is not a diet - this is my life! I know that I will never go back to the way I was because I am a different person. For the first time in my life, I am caring for myself - what I am doing is for me, nobody else.
I do weekly a weigh in and measurements every tuesday morning, but I'm updating monthly. Here's the progess so far:

Goals & Milestones:
~1/4/08 I made my first milestone. I'm in double digits! Wooooooohoooo!!!
~8/7/08 I made another milestone: 20kgs gone forever (44 lbs) 10 kgs to go!
~14/10/08 I reached my goal of 30kg's / 66lbs lost! Wooohooooooo!
~15/12/08 I'm in the "Healthy" BMI range for the first time in my life!
~31/1/09 It was a white dress and it was fabulous! The red dress dream has come true.
~14/2/09 Happy 1 year SPark-aversary! 1 year on and I have reached my goals, achieved beyond anything I imagined, and I am maintaining, I have a new found positive attitude toward life no matter what it throws at me. Thank you SP!!!!!
~14/3/09 I bought my first EVER size 10 (US size 8) jeans!
~14/2/10 Happy 2 year SPark-aversary! Goal reached and surpassed and maintaining for the last 6 months! I'm over the moon with what I have achieved. I've been doing some research about loose skin and found a method that that balances fitness and nutrition to increase lean mass without losing any more weight, it's my next project and something to work towards. Stay tuned!
This was my original introduction:
I'm 28 years old. I live in Sydney, Australia with my dog Gypsy, Kiti the cranky cat, the 2 guinea pigs Mo and Albert, and the 2 fish, Fishy and Fishy-Fishy (RIP). My elderly grandmother also lives with us as she is no longer able to live by herself.
I work 6 days a week, I volunteer for an animal rescue group called 4 Paws Rescue NSW (www.4pawsrescuensw.org.au) and I love to have friends over and entertain - so life is busy.
I have joined Sparkpeople because I not only want to lose weight, I want to feel healthier, I want to feel "normal".
On 14/2/08 I have weighed and measured myself
Height 1.73m (5' 8")
Weight 107kg (235lbs)
Bust 110cm (43")
Waist 110cm (43")
Hips 135cm (54")
Size 20
Using a BMI calculator, I am obese, and my hip to waist ratio indicates impending health issues.
I have set my target weight at 77kg (169lbs), and my goal date of 29/1/09, 2 days before the wedding and the red dress. This means a total loss of 30kg (66lbs) over 48 weeks.
I have been overweight since a very young age, so young actually that I can't ever remember a time when I was a "normal" weight. As a teenager it was hard, and I did my fair share of yo-yo dieting to try to keep up with the "cool" crowd. Dieting has always been a part of my life, an unpleasant, frustrating, demeaning and taxing part of my life. All the women in my mothers family are overweight or obese. Perhaps my fate is sealed in my genes, both parents and most of the family being diabetic.
I don't want to end up like them.
I have come to a juncture in life: one path leads on forward into oblivion doing the same thing, day in, day out. If I follow this path, I will continue to be obese, I will continue to be miserable, and I will end up like them.
The other path is full of uncertainty, change, a roller coaster, an unpredictable new adventure. Even at it's worst it can not come near the future that awaits me if I do nothing.
I am learning to make "i" statements, and giving responsibility where it belongs. To me. I am willing to follow the Spark program and make a long term commitment to better myself.
I want to make my own fate. This time, I'm gonna do it!
My tangible goals are:
I want to participate in the RSPCA million paws walk. It is a 5 km walk (or run) to be held in May 2008. It's a fundraising event for the RSPCA that brings thousands of dog lovers together, so Gypsy and I need to be looking our best. - DONE!!!! 18/5/08 40 minutes ~ 3km. It was a great event, Gypsy had a ball hanging out with so many dogs and it was a great walk, not too easy not too hard.
The red dress. I found this picture and I love it, I want to wear it to our friends wedding next January. In order to do that, I need to lose a bunch of inches: 40 x 33 x 42, that is their largest size, and I want to make it and beat it.
