I'm Laura, a recent college graduate who fell prey to Starbucks. I gained 15 pounds before my Freshman year had even started, and I never managed to get back down to my original weight.

Update August '09: I'm back, at my highest weight ever. I have a gym membership, and I'm going at least 3Xs a week. I'm committed to not only getting in shape, but to naturally increasing my dopamine levels so that I am happier and more energetic.

Update January '08: I'm trying to get back on the bandwagon. In the last year, I've dipped below my goal weight due to headache medication, and promptly gained it all back (and more). Here we go again.

Update April '07: I have done SparkPeople numerous times. (I have found this site is the only way to successfully lose weight, at least for me. I've tried South Beach and while I like the basic principles behind it, I wasn't disciplined enough.)

My Goals:
I'm trying to lose 15-20 pounds, while gaining muscle. I'm more concerned with achieving aerobic fitness, but I wouldn't mind the weight loss, either.

My Program:
I'm going to the gym at least 3Xs a week, doing step and jazz dance classes. I hope to incorporate strength training in the future.

Personal Information:
I'm originally from Alaska, though I bounced back and forth between AK and CA while growing up. I just graduated from college in Oregon, studying journalism with a focus in advertising. I live with my boyfriend and my cats, Ollie and Maeby.

Other Information:
My favorite movie is Breakfast at Tiffany's.

Welcome to the Couch to 5k running group!!!! Stop by the message board and introduce yourself to the team. On the team page you will find a thread for each training week. Click on week one and post were you are at in your training. This is a great way to meet others who are in the same phase of training as you. Some of my best friends were in my training week one and we worked through the program together sharing victories, questions, comments, and ideas. I look forward to learning more about you. I will be popping in on the Weeks 1 - 3 training to help answer any questions that might pop up and to cheer you on to your goals! Be blessed! Be a runner!

I go to Body Now, its on River Ave. off of River Road next to the East Beltline onramp. It is such a FANTASTIC place!!! It is actually just for women, and it has all of the normal gym stuff. (Its not like Curves) It has a normal gym area with free weights, treadmills, etc, and also has quite a few fun classes! Zumba is AWESOME!! Yoga is fabulous! The owner of the gym, Deborah, used to be a body builder. She knows SO much about fitness its incredible. Its fun when she teaches classes because if you really pay attn to her, you can see the difference in how she moves her body verses a lot of the other people in the class, if you move the way she does, it is SO much more effective! She is amazing! I can get you a free week pass if you like. The women there are so amazing and friendly. It is such a great place to be! Let me know if you would like to try it out for a week, I will talk with Deborah! Here is the website:

The class schedule on the website is NOT the current one!! :) emoticon
