My son, fishing. I didn’t feel physically capable of getting down to the river’s edge. Motivation.

Whoo hoo! So cool that you signed up for a race! AWESOME! And I think it's great you're going outside...enjoy your run tomorrow! I just love the way it feels to be out in the air. My run yesterday was hard because I had only done the eliptical this week, but today's run was beautiful, one of those magical days where it seems like the air is sparkling....

I have my running sched set up so I mostly have a day in between runs (I try to do 4 cardio days a week), that way I have a day of recovery in between, but this week I got all backed up because of the work trip. So goes it, I do what I can!

I think it's great that you're running! I wish I liked the treadmill more, I will take some of your tips in using it, good goals and variation in your program. But if you want to go outside and run, the heck with the neighbors! And I'm jealous of your expensive bra, I get the cheap onees at TJ Maxx and wear two at a time! Keeps the girls from getting too wild so it's functional, but maybe I'll make a good sports bra one of my rewards.

When I run races, I don't usually set a speed goal, I've been doing long races with a goal of finishing. One exception: I set a goal of an 11 minute mile in my last 10 mile race and was very proud that I got there. When I'm done with the half (which will be my longest race ever) I'm planning on concentrating on speed at that point and signing up for a short race and setting a speed goal. You should totally try a short race when you're ready, maybe a 5K-- you're faster than me!

And thank you for the comment on my blog earlier this week with the quote "I am feeling my emotions, not feeding them..." I just noticed it and how perfect it is -- thank you! And may I also add "and not drowning them." emoticon

    Hooray on the good workout!

I don't usually do classes during the week either, for the same reasons -- long commute, often unable to plan. I usually do a yoga class on the weekend though, and I may add bodypump on Saturday too. I get bored if I do the same thing all the time. I'm training for a half marathon so I've been running regularly. I like to have a concrete goal like that, it helps me motivate...do you run?
