Introduction Text I'm a 50-something Baby Boomer married 26 years in Feb with 3 kids ranging from tweens to early twenties. I've struggled with being overweight all my life. I've tried just about every diet, weight loss and exercise program there is. In 2010 I was approaching 300 lbs and was facing a layoff in 60 days. It was an All Time Low for me! As a lifetime overachiever, I was TOTALLY broken physically, emotionally, spiritually. I had NOWHERE else to go but to God. Really. While I've always been a believer, I've been a 'low-key' Christian. Sometimes going to church in various Christian faiths, but mostly hit-and-miss Bible reading and praying on my own. When I totally turned everything over to Him, my life started turning around. I let go of negative relationships, I was led to get the job of my dreams and started on my WLS journey. My physical and mental health is 100% improved. Sparkpeople website has been instrumental in supporting me in my change journey. Altho I can never give back what I've been given by my fellow SP friends, I try to read, comment & post something encouraging here every day. I appreciate the friendliness and support from my fellow Sparklers!

I regularly eat nf refried beans (Taco Bell brand) with 1 wedge of Laughing Cow lite soft cheese, Dannon Lite & Fit Greek yogurt (80 cal 12 gms protein,0 sugar), nf cottage cheese, cheese sticks, reduced fat cheese slices (Sargento, Alpine Lace, or Jarlesberg lite - swiss, cheddar, provolone). Almonds (28 nuts = 6 gm protein, 170 cal, 1g sugars- I have to watch my count on these!) Non-fat milk in my tea and skinny mocha's (homemade with Hills Bros sf double mocha mix and Splenda). SF Alpine Hot Cider mix, MIO water flavoring. I also make a pot of soup weekly- I rotate the following kinds: white beans with onions & carrots, split pea, lentil, chili with ground beef, black, red & white kidney beans. I found a great rtd protein drink at Costco- Premier protein chocolate. (30 gms protein, 160 cal, sugars 1g) Tummy does NOT like chicken! A few bites of rotisserie chicken dark meat will go (and stay) down ok. All other forms/ pieces are NO GO.

My Program (cont.) Ground beef (80-20%) made into meatballs w/t.sauce or gravy, meatloaf, hamburger patty, taco meat crumbles. Occasional small amts of steak: Tri tip, filet mig, rib eye. A few bites of ham or well braised pot roast, no pork chops. No white carbs- bread, tortillas, buns, etc. get stuck. Very occasional mashed potatoes with gravy. Thankfully, I'm not a dessert person! :)
