Hi! I'm a Baby Boomer who has gained 20 pounds in just the last 6 months! All from overeating and under-activity. I have a pretty severe back "issue" that keeps me down in the bed at times, so I did a lot of emotional eating. The 20 pounds are not good for the ole' back and I am sick of the emotional aspect of it. So...... I love this site and the support and the ability to track and be accountable for all my eating and exercise.

Well....... the above paragraph was written a year ago and I haven't kept up with being my own best friend as far as my health goes. We had some major changes since I last wrote in April (08): we moved my mom into a cottage in our back yard. She has severe dementia and has taken almost every bit of my strength and emotional energy. A week before she moved in our 30 year old son moved back to our area, having to live with us for a few months until his place was ready. I had loved being an empty-nester and having him in the home was very hard for us and for him. The day he moved out a friend moved in for a couple of weeks. He was great company and no problem- it was just funny how it all worked out.

But not all my business was difficult..... our daughter has 3 different problems that made it impossible for her to get pregnant. I had accepted that we would never have a baby in our lives so we could be doting grandparents. But, God can do anything He wants and she realized she was pregnant when she was 5 1/2 months along and the 'tumor' moved! She is petite but she just didn't 'show'. She had not had but one period in 3 years so a baby was never suspected. We saw a gorgeous, healthy baby boy via ultrasound at her first visit to the doctor! He was born in March and is the love of so many lives! We are all smitten!

The week after we got Mom into her new home I got sick with a MRSA infection- the very bad bug that could've been lethal for me. It took a while for me to get over that and with all that has been going on, I have been taking care of everyone else but myself and I had gotten up to my highest weight ever. UGH! I got on the Zone plan and lost 10 pounds rather quickly and felt great. It seems that 2 weeks is my limit for maintaining healthy eating. Most of the 10 pounds has crept back on. My hubby and I usually collapse in the den at around 10 PM and eat whatever we can put our hands on. He works so hard and is so great to my mother- I don't want him to get the 'dregs' while everyone else is being cared for.

Well, this should've been a blog and not an intro but I will leave it so I can remind myself of how I was feeling today and jar myself into action! I have missed the support and tools on this site that are so much fun. I hope to find all of the old friends I was communicating with before I fell off the wagon and out of sight. I'm sure there are some geat success stories and when I have some free time I am going to lie back and enjoy.

My Goals:
I want to find an eating pattern that will be healthy, satisfying and will last a life time. I want to cook healthy food for my husband. I want to lose at least 21 pounds. I want to discover exercises that I can tolerate with my serious back "issues".

My Program:
Monitoring every bite that goes into my mouth. Drinking at least 8 glasses of water per day. Exercising to tolerance (that old back issue again). Doing whatever is necessary to maintain a positive attitude. Pray for grace and self-discipline to have a life style that is pleasing to God every single day!

Personal Information:
My husband and I live on a farm in the SE. We have a married daughter who is 33. We have one step-grandson who lives with his Mom. We have a son who is 29 and is a free spirit. He has gone back to college after 8 years of traveling the USA. We have chickens (100,000 at any given time), and around 150 cows. I love to read, sew, paint and have recently taken a knitting class. I love the outdoors and my husband and I love to camp. One huge benefit- taking our 3 rescued Furry Kids.
