I've decided to update my intro, the last one was over 2 years old.
To recap the last 20 lb. gain.
We moved into our present house July 29,2004. I was at 145 lbs. and wanted to lose 10 more.
It wasn't from proper eating that I'd just lost 8 lbs. just before the move, more of work, packing , etc. Grab and Go eating.
Two weeks after we moved in, my Mom past away. Well before you could say potato chip I packed on 20 lbs.
Then I did the South Beach diet and lost 8 lbs. in a month, that was in 2006.The only thing I learned on the diet was I am a carb addict and protein is more filling and last longer in the stomach.I couldn't stay on this but I did incorporate some of it into my eating plan.
I stayed at about 150-155 for 2 years.
In Oct.06 I had shoulder surgery on the right arm.Months of rehab and a few more lbs.
Jan.08 I had the left shoulder repaired. A few more lbs.
Only in frequent walks and bouts of exercise.
A holiday in the Dominican Republic last March sitting for 2 weeks didn't help.
By Xmas 2009 I reached 173lbs.More than I ever have weighed even 9 months pregnant !!
170 has always been my benchmark number for NEVER reaching.
So I have returned to Sparkpeople I'm determined to stay the course until I get to my goal of 140lbs.
I'm menopausal, I have high BP , chronic depression and arthritis. All are being treated and I'm ok.
The Defining Moment came to me while looking at myself naked I realized I looked like the poster women in the pharmacy for a post menopausal womens' body. NO WAY not going to happen!!!
I'll never be any younger but I want to be the best I can be at any age.
There's a long list of close female relatives with breast cancer, I'll do my part starting now to lower my risks.
NO SMOKES, last one Dec.31/09
Exercise at least 30 min. EVERYDAY!!!!!
GAVE up the booze too ,last year, really reduced the migraines, as did menopause.
So far I have lost about 4lbs.
I am doing Sparks bootcamp,Leslie Sansone walking DVDS and Nordic ski walking when itès above -15C
and some Wii play.
I just need to keep up the momentum.
I have got to take the time to post
I have the time I have been off work since April 06.
NO MORE EXCUSES!!

    Good for you!!
I too have stopped and started so many times and it got to to the point that I wouldn't tell anyone I was quitting beause they'd heard it all before.
I still want to smoke. I miss it . I smoked for almost 40 years.
But I also hate smoking. It's disgusting it'll kill me in the end so I'm not going back.
I'm glad you're doing well. That gives me strength too.
Be proud of your success. It's tough, but worth it.

    Hey Cheryl
    Just checking up on you.
Are you still doing okay with no cigarettes?
    How's your resolve?
I still have moments where I get really pissed off that I can't smoke, 'cause it's the ONLY thing I want to do at that moment.
It passes, but I sulk for a while.
    I hope you're doing well.
