If I motivated you, please nominate using the box below on the left. Thank you and "keep swimming!"

Early 50''s. Motivated! "Can do" attitude. Never quits. Hope to lose 60+ lbs and, more importantly, get FIT!

My friends nicknamed me Dory (from Finding Nemo) because I am extremely upbeat but very forgetful. Also, like Dory, I never give up. So, come and Spark with me and we will "just keep swimming, just keep swimming, what do we do.... we SWIM."

My Goals:
My main goal is to get fit and I hope that will also result in weight loss of 60+ lbs.

My Program:
I am working on eating the right number of calories and getting much more active.

Personal Information:
In February 2017, I will celebrate 25 years since the day I met the love of my life, my husband of 19 years. My daughter is 14 years old and my hero. She is the miracle child that the doctor said wasn't possible. The newest member of our family is our cockapoo, Charlie. He will be 3 years old in May.

I love to read and host a monthly book club. I enjoy cooking (very healthy recipes, of course). I like long walks with my family and Charlie, skiing, biking, and hiking. I love family game night. I sing in a neighborhood band. I do radio voice work and substitute teach. I am a girl scout leader. I work for a charity that helps clinics in Ethiopia where our current project is building a maternity health center for women.

Other Information:
Getting fit is important to me for many reasons including being here for and setting an example for my daughter. It is also important because I've lost 2 brothers to heart attacks, both in their early 30's.

I was always a "little thing", as my family and friends would say until about the age of 36. I was 5'2, just over 100 lbs and a size 4. When we decided to have a baby, I became pregnant immediately. I had 7 pregnancies and 6 miscarriages while unknowingly going through early menopause in a few short years. Each pregnancy added weight. Since then, I have had several major injuries (shoulder nerve damage, torn ACL, etc.) from trying things to get fit again, but I will never stop trying.

My doctor says that with so many pregnancies and losses in such a short time and while going through menopause, everything going on at once, my body went into a metabolic syndrome. We are trying different ways to get my metabolism fired up again.
