My four-legged children. Jack is the tan one. I call him my Chihuahua on stilts. He is a PomChi mix and has legs for days. Foxie "the baby" is the black and white. I call her our rat terrier on steroids LOL. Her name was Bitsy when we adopted her from her foster mommy last year because she was so tiny. Now at 8 months she is around 25 pounds and still growing.

Hey! My name is Tiffany, I am a homemaker, mother of two, kinda old fashion, country loving woman. I was diagnosed back in 1999 as a Type 1 diabetic. Since then I have raised two rowdy boys David is now 18 and Shane is 17. I live in North Louisiana with the love of my life, John Roy.

I will be the first to admit I have not taken very good care of myself over the years. I have, I suppose, hoped that if I ignored the diabetes it would go away. I know I have been very lucky because I have had three near fatal episodes. This last one was a true eye opener for me. "Third times a charm", as the old saying goes, I reckon. I went into diabetic ketoacidosis almost a month ago. After, not being able to remember two days of my life and waking up in an ICU room not having a clue where I was, something finally clicks. I don't want to die, I don't want to leave my family with the pain of loss, I want to see my boys graduate school, I want to meet my grandchildren and watch them grow, I want to marry and grow old with the man that I love more than anything, I WANT to live and I want to live healthy as possible. I want to be able to enjoy the lives of my children as they raise their own children.

God spared my life. He has given me the chance to do these things. I am trying to learn as much as I can. I have changed my eating habits. Habits I thought I would never give up: drinking over 4 Cokes a day, not checking my sugars regularly, eating chocolates and sweets. I still have an extremely long way to go and do not even claim to be close to my goal of a healthy life, but I know I am trying and I see the progress even if it is small steps up the ladder. With my family and God beside me I know I will make it.

My goals to name a few are learn to eat healthier in order to control my sugar levels, become more active, educate myself with as much knowledge I can find, stop smoking before January 1, 2012, and last but not least, ENJOY LIFE!

Thanks for reading. Hope you have a blessed and glorious day!

February 2013
I had another round with the horrible DKA and stayed 24 days in the hospital, 10 of those days in ICU. Turns out I get to add gastroparesis to my diagnosis. This has made my sugar levels extremely hard to control sending me back to the hospital. Still trying to get things under control so I am back again on Spark to getting some support and advice. Hope this helps as much as it did last time.

The greatest love story ever told is in the Bible:
John3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God. K.J.V. in Public domain

One of my favorite Bible Verses:
The Golden Rule! Luke 6:31 Do to others as you would have them do to you. What kind of world would it be if we all lived by this rule. HUGS!
