New for 2008:

2007 was a difficult year for me, peppered by death and loss, along with pressing myself to get done with my education, so much that I overcommitted myself to school and had to neglect other aspects of my life. During the hardest part, I lost a lot of weight rather rapidly. I didn't like losing it that way, but I felt better about how I looked.

A benefit was that I learned some better eating habits (except for the times of not eating at all) and plan to keep that up. Now, I see that there is a HUGE edge given by eating at home. Unfortunately, eating on the go became the main mode of nutrition, but I tried to keep the portions reasonable and make the better choices when possible.

So, the outlook for the year includes getting a good way down the path to my degree. If the kids are enrolled in private school in the fall, I will return to school full-time, but that also won't be until fall.

I am going to be joining the gym at school and will make time in my schedule every semester to make it there and allow myself to keep track of things, here. Homecooked meals and packed lunches are going to be the main mode of nutrition. (I've struggled with eating slightly warmed lunches, which tend to turn my stomach and reduce my intake--one cloud with a silver lining, huh?).

Another goal for the year is to make sure I get enough water. This effort has been the bane of my existence. Sometimes, I'm really great, but then, I just lose it, for some reason and don't notice it until I can't breathe or go to the bathroom (ew! Sorry). So, speaking of allergies. I hate taking meds, and have stayed off of them for the most part. My home is a "sick building" so getting out of it has helped a good deal. I also noticed a correlation between water intake and severity of my allergy response. I very rarely have headaches (unless overly tired), and making sure I've gotten enough to drink keeps my sinuses open and my chest from feeling like it's caving in. Who knew??

Many of my other goals still stand, given the turbulence of the past year. I admire all of you who are still here. Take care and let's make it a good one.

I would like to lose 80 pounds and get to 120. I am a size 16, and want to get down to a size 6/8, but will [hopefully] be happy with a size 10 if that''s what I achieve.

My Program:
1200-1550 calories/day.

30 minutes weight training/day, 3 days
10 min jump rope/day, 3 days

Encouraging my husband by adhering to a low cholesterol/low saturated fat diet. (DH's cholesterol is down!!!! 11/06)

I'm personally trying to watch my salt intake.
