A little about myself:
I've been a long-time runner, but always struggled with my weight. It took me a long time to realize that absolute importance of nutrition. After having my twins in 2008, I found myself at my highest weight ever.... 175 lbs. It was time for an overhaul. I started following the Maker's Diet (which is not really a diet at all, but a clean, healthy way of life), & slowly started running again. It was a long haul, but the weight DID come off. I still struggle with not letting bad habits creep back in, but I KEEP WORKING AT IT!

Since then, I also have started doing long distance races. I ran my first HM in 2009, & my first marathon in 2011. I love running events, & love the motivation it gives me to challenge myself to new distances & improving my times.

10K - 46:16
HM - 1:43:12
30K - 2:44
Marathon - 3:47:44

My Program:
Running (and lots of it!):
4-5 days weekly (Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs, and Sat)
Saturday: Long run

Strength Training:
2-3x a week

I've tried about every diet out there - Low-carb (whole foods low-carb), Paleo, portion sizes, calorie counting, Trim Healthy Mama. I have now come full circle, and do not believe a low carb or keto diet is the way to go. I eat a balanced diet with healthy fats and carbs, try to eat lots of veggies and always keeping a good source of protein a part of every snack and meal.

    * for clean eating. I just want to be healthier but I don’t think I’ve really committed 110 percent.

I am not following a diet. I just try to eat good. But I have 15 more pounds to lose and it seems the hardest. Experimenting with calories- it’s a big difference coming off marathon training. And with a family of 5 haven’t done enough research

Thanks for the friend add! I added you back - always nice to meet another runner!

Edited to add: I just read your blog about the family 5K. How did your husband do in the May event? Are the kids still running?

Hopefully that link will work. That's to the LiveFit Spark Team.
Sorry I haven't replied yet... it's been a weekend. We had Chris' granddaughter Saturday afternoon until yesterday morning and then spent ALL DAY out running errands and stuff yesterday. By the time we got home, it was almost my bedtime. LOL

Today was Day 8 for me, too. I had a pretty decent workout this morning. The first 2 weeks are pretty easy, to ease into it... it gets a little more strenuous as it moves along. Phase 3 is TOUGH!!
